Are you a real Carolina fan, or a 2016 Carolina fan?

I remember being at a Panthers Superbowl party in 2004 and when the teams ran out of the tunnel, the Patriots ran out and this woman started cheering, everyone looked at her and she said "Oh, that's not us?"

About 10 years ago I was so drunk at a home game I was cheering for the Lions offense at one point.

I literally laugh at those Cowboys, Steelers, etc. fans who ask me if I am a 2016 bandwagon fan.  Family has had PSL since 1997 (8 years old) section 504.  Been going ever since.  Didn't miss a home game, including preseason, from 1997 to 2005 when I went to college.  Been averaging about 4-5 games a year, (unfortunately have to share with family for some games.)  But I have Sam Mills, Lathon, Greene, Walls, Smith, Delhomme, and Cam jersey.  My latest obsession is decorating my new man cave with black and blue everything.  I have such an obsession that I have converted my Fiance who was a Saints fan. I tell you what ladies and gents, there wasn't a more gradifiying feeling than hearing her come up to me last week before the Divisional game saying she ordered herself a Panthers beanie and scarf.  Love my team. Black and Blue until I die!   This is our year!

I have a signed photograph of Mr. Richardson with members of the original Team Spartanburg Sports Council, including me, dated Oct. 28, 1993, just days after the franchise was awarded. It was the day Spartanburg held a huge downtown parade and celebration for Mr. Richardson being awarded the franchise, even before Charlotte held its celebration. "Thanks for helping make my NFL dream come true!!!" signed Jerry Richardson. (I had been a "fan" from the moment my dad, who was a friend of Mr. Richardson, told me that JJR had plans to bring the NFL to the Carolinas. I've been so happy to be a part of this team since that time, to see it grow, to work where summer training camp is held, to see it make the Super Bowl and now see the success of this season. Until a couple of years ago, I had never missed a home game -- in nearly 20 years. Went to the HOF game and the Super Bowl.) The picture is framed next to a letter from Mr. Richardson, dated November 1995, thanking me for helping make the Inaugural Summer Training Camp a success. That was when I worked for the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce; now, at Wofford, I'm still here and enjoying the success first-hand. Love it! Always will. Raised my children up as the most loyal Panthers fans ever, and I know the next generation will be soon. (Not a grandmother yet, but soon???)

    • I liked him when he was at Michigan because I'm a Wolverine homer. After that...
    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, 🇺🇸USA USA USA🇺🇸 and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.
