When Will Ed Hochuli "Get That Call" To Officiate A Panthers Game Again?

I know that Ed Hochuli was an alternate referee for the Panthers/Seahawks game on Sunday and I think that decision was made by the NFL to ease Hochuli back in, to officiate a Panthers game in the near future after the Newton/Hochuli controversy. He certainly won't be officiating any Panthers games for the rest of this season since the referee assignments are already set. Ed Hochuli will be the head referee for the AFC championship game between the Patriots and Broncos and Bill Vinovich will be the head referee for the Panthers and Cardinals game.

Clete Blakeman will be the head referee for the Super Bowl and I can't help but wonder if the NFL didn't assign Ed Hochuli to officiate the Super Bowl on purpose to avoid another controversy because of the possibility (hopefully it comes true) of the Panthers playing in the game.

What are your thoughts on this?

FYI Vinovich was the ref for the Colts game this year that had a few questionable calls go against us in the 4th quarter. However, he is the best ref in the NFL in my opinion and I'll take him 10 times out of 10 over Hochuli.

Hopefully, there won't be any questionable calls against the Panthers on Sunday, but I know there will be.

I know refs make mistakes and are only human, but I just want the game officiated fairly for both sides.

    • His size will always limit him.  Do t kid yourself
    • When a team has EXPECTATIONS you have to show them that your fandom and praise is EARNED.  People would be mad if the they lost two one goal competitive games like 2023 but they wouldn't have gotten booed out of the building because the effort and competitiveness would be there but to lose in THAT fashion at home with your entire top line going free lance and saying fug this yeahhh.
    • Well with back to back road games to open the season again we really can't afford a "slow start" at least not for the psyche of the fanbase that is already at rock bottom from years of losing. I think that will depend on our approach to preseason this go around. But I do agree the makings of a culture change could be big for us. At the same time we heard talk of this last year and then we got the doors blown off multiple times. I can agree with you it's best to try to maintain perspective until we get closer to the midway point of the season. The main things I want to see early on even if we aren't necessarily winning is spark and toughness from the offense and defense and at least keeping games close.
