Thomas Davis is the only remaining player of the 2005 Carolina Panthers--the last Carolina team to make it to the NFCCG. Not only is he still on the team, he is coming off arguably his best season of his career. Davis had career highs this season in sacks (5.5), passes defended (7), interceptions (4), and forced fumbles (4). On top of his play he is also the emotional leader of the defense and shows nothing but class on the field. He is just as tremendous off of the field as everyone saw last year with his crowning as WPMOY. I'll be the first to admit that a few years back I was pretty frustrated with his inability to stay healthy and wanted him off of the team. Now I can see why the front office kept giving him chances and that we are extremely lucky to have him. He is ingraining himself as one of my favorite Panthers ever.

"It really puts things in perspective," said Davis, the only remaining Panther from that 2005 team. "That’s one of the messages that I’ll definitely be talking about to the guys. Take advantage of this opportunity because you never know when it is going to come around again. It took ten years for me to get back here."

Wow I didn't remember he wore #47. Why did he switch?

Yep my old number, still have my TD 47 jersey. LBs couldn't be in the 40s then and still couldn't until they just changed it before this year. Was kinda hoping TD was gonna go back to 47 this year.

Pretty much a foregone conclusion that TD is the next Panther to get a statue, right?

I dunno.  I guess it depends on why you think Mills has one.  Mills meant alot to this organization and with his passing no way for the team and fans to express that to him.  Being able to see that statue is a way for people to remember him.  Thomas Davis will no doubt be honored in some fashion by the panthers and the NFL. I'm not sure he gets a statue though atleast until were not able to show him appreciation any other way.

Better be.

The man is the living embodiment of Keep Pounding, which is to say in my opinion, the living embodiment of what this organisation stands for and strives to be...

    • I thought about this schedule, and it is brutal. That said most of the games we played against caliber teams we either won or were in the game, minus the New England game. We'll have a much-improved defense and if we can somehow get Brazzell incorporated into the offense and one of our TE step up we might have a nice offense. So, I say we should be in most of these games.  Predicting the outcome of these games so soon after the draft before we even have OTA is just guessing so I won't predict.
    • Same here, and I've been one of the biggest anti Bryce people on here. Now, even then, I won't want us to make him a Top 5 paid QB, I'd like to see it still be a deal in that 10-15 range of highest paid QB's and/or have it just be a 2 or 3 year deal.  But if he puts up a season like that, he'll have earned the extension and right to be our QB moving forward. I don't think he'll have a season like that as I don't think he's good enough, but as I've said every year for the last 3 years and now the 4th straight year... Even though I don't think he's that good or can do that, I desperately want to be proven wrong, because Bryce turning into the player the team thought they were getting him after that trade, is still our fastest path to contention than needing to replace QB again.
