Interesting because it speaks to the chess match of this game.  On one hand, Denver does have a good 4 man rush, which allows them to keep more defenders out on passing plays and spies for Cam.  The author sees this as Denver's ultimate match up which will have a major impact in the winning of the game.

On the flip side, haven't we played good pass rushers this season?  We did beat them, right? ;)

Food for thought as we continue to kill time before the Big Owl.

Comments are brilliant. The article doesn't seem to think much of our Oline but does make some good points. The strength of the entire Broncos team is that DL. But it points to the pass rush only...as if we are a pass first team...or as if a team has to pass to win. We've shown all year that we run the ball like no one else. That is the real matchup.

I don't get it. I mean, I know that the low hanging fruit for media types is to talk as much about Cam and the Denver D as possible, but everyone selling that match up as the most important of the game? Our defense is playing out of their minds and forcing a ridiculous amount of turnovers. Denver's defense is elite, but their offense is middling at best. I see our D vs. their O as the real match up to watch. Getting stops and/or turnovers on Denver's O early in the game, and giving our offense a short field is really where I see us giving our team a good chance to win.

Denver does have a very good pass rush, no doubt. But they were made to look far better than they are in the AFCCG. Keep in mind that NE was missing two quality starters on their offensive line, and Vollmer (who is probably the team's best Olineman) had to play out of position. The backup who was charged with the task of blocking Miller was Marcus Cannon. Cannon has always been awful, even for a backup.

Carolina not only has a better pass blocking Oline, but their dominant run game should help keep Denver's pass rush a bit more conservative as well.

I would think Ginn & Brown opened some eyes after last week's performance against a good defense. Granted, the Cards' secondary is a little beat up, but PP was still on the field, as well as a good front 7.  Even Olsen broke 100 yards, so I'd think that Denver will have their hands full.  Ginn & Brown stepped up big time and at the best time of year. The more weapons we present, the more they have to respect it.  Less they forget about J.Stew and Tolbert too.

Though the Broncos also run the E-P system offensively, I'd hate to have to gameplan against our offensive concepts.

Well, the media can't write for two weeks about how it's going to be a blow out. They have to make it interesting. And honestly, it wouldn't be good for the team's mindset to think this is just going to be a coronation game.

We're an incredible team and I'm confident that we'll win, but Denver has a very good defense and I wouldn't expect them to just roll over. Carolina needs to bring their A game.

Von Miller vs Mike Remmers is probably the most important matchup of the game. If Remmers wins that then I think we win no problem. However, Remmers has had trouble with speed rushers. In our only loss Vic Beasley gave Remmers the business all game and Miller is Beasley on steroids. Remmers handled Watt very well, but he does much better against the bigger, power guys than he does against the smaller, speed rushers. He's going to need help.

Denver fans really are stupid.  Their whole argument is that we beat Brady and Brady is a better passer than Cam.  They completely ignore the fact that NE had absolutely ZERO run game and Brady is not a mobile QB.  Those two facts alone allowed Denver to pin their ears back and rush with abandon.  They do that against us and we will run for 200 yards on them and blow them out.

So maybe someone can take this a step forward because I'm at work and need to do something productive =)

So just looking at who Denver played this season, their 16 game rushing average, and how much they ran for against Denver was kind of interesting.

In my few minutes of checking things out, teams that tend to run the ball well, tended to run the ball well against Denver.  Not there were some exceptions to that of course.  But teams that commit to the run still tended to go over 100 yards on the ground against the Broncos.

We are the second rated rushing team in the NFL. That's going to be a bigger issue than Cam's arm I think considering their limitations offensively.  I think this could be an incredibly low scoring game if it's a run versus D kind of game.  Denver is an excellent defense, but thinking that it's some kind of crazy mismatch is completely incorrect.

I think that this is going to be a game decided by the team that runs best.  Also playing to the weaknesses of the other team is going to be even more crucial.  It won't be easy either way for anyone, and that's good.  Its the Super Bowl after all.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
