I heard about the whole "I never liked you as a quarterback" comment by Smitty, then I came here and saw this video... it's obviously tounge-in-cheek, Steve is trying to get Jake to lighten up a little. He starts out by telling him he's not very good looking - which sets the stage for everything else including the "I never liked you as a quarterback" comment.

Rofl. That's the best part of the video.

P.S. I wouldn't read too much into the "don't like you as a quarterback" thing. I believe he was joking. If he didn't liked him as a QB he wouldn't have played with him this long and been this optimistic. Not to mention, even if they have had their problems, Smith has made some amazing plays off of Delhomme passes.

He was obviously kidding around though. A lot of truth said in jest.

What I meant, except in one sentence and put much more eloquently.

Can you imagine if, instead of Steve out there, it was Ochocinco or T.O.?

It definitely cements my belief that Steve Smith is the best overall WR in the league. It's not just about their personalities as men, but it's also about how those personalities affect their play and teamwork. I don't think you can separate the "player" from the "man."

I'm glad the rest of our team isn't as fickle about Delhomme as we are. I'm still pissed at the guy but hopefully the rest of those guys can pick him up so we can beat the falcons. I'm sticking with my prediction of 220 yards, a TD, an INT in a win over the Falcons...

I know he was kidding with Jake, but it just wasn't really that funny. I'm sure Jake wasn't in the mood to laugh about his QBing at the time. Steve should have switched up the joke and said, "I know you'll turn it around as a QB, I trust you there. I've jus tnever liked you off the field...you're a total a**hole." If had said that as a joke, he might have had more of a chance for a laugh from Jake.

Didn't realize this was such a big deal. They seemed to be getting along just fine and Smith was trying to get a laugh out of him. Anyway, here's this:
