Adam Shein Says Jake Has Nothing Left

Panthers Delhomme Has Nothing Left

By Adam Schein FoxSports.Com

I got a ton of e-mails from angry Panthers fans saying I disrespected Carolina, picking them to win seven games.

I think I overshot.

Jake Delhomme tossed four more picks. He looks shot. He looks shaken. Remember when Delhomme was a confident, clutch gunslinger? I think that player is gone. And even last year, during wins, he threw too many picks.

Delhomme embarrassed himself against the Cards in the playoffs and didn't instill believability in Week 1 or reward the Panthers for foolishly giving him a new deal after a postseason dud for the ages.

The Philly defense just had a field day. It was tough to watch. Carolina needs a new QB.

When can we move on to new topics? I know, I know, after the Falcons game. I'm tired of all this Jake talk. He's not a great QB, period. Let's stop trying to argue his value. His above-average, always was, always will be. Any time you can speak of your QB in terms of "Good Jake" or "Bad Jake", you're in for a world of hurt.

Not to really defend Jake, but he only had 12 picks last regular season....so he didnt exactly throw too many in our wins last season.

To further that point Jakes int% last year was lower than in 2003 or 2005. Im thinking that

1. Shein doesn't and hasn't watched any Panther football other than ESPN highlights.

and

2. He doesn't remember what Jake looked like in 2003-2005.

Jake really wasn't any different last year than he had been since 03 with the exception of the playoff game

I don't care who he is, is he wrong?
i'm not sure yet. by the bye we will know for sure. if he doesn't turn it around the next two weeks we should have someone else starting in week 5.

early bye week could be a good thing if we are turning it over to someone else.

I hate Adam Schein but he is 100% right on this one. Jake is DONE! I wouldnt call Schein a Carolina hater either. He did pick the panthers to win the super bowl 3 different times.

Yep...he jumped on our bandwagon when the Cats were good and I'm sure he'll be slobbing all over the next 'power team.'

Schein has always hated Carolina.... For the past couple seasons he has given Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints a rim job at any opportunity he can get on the air.

You are right about that. In fact I sometimes wonder how much he knows about the Panthers...not a sexy enough team for him I think. Easy for him to trash Jake.

    • Yep. I was hoping for and calling for a day three guy. But I didn’t research the position to say if we should or should‘t have jumped at a particular guy at a particular spot.    And everything I read said it was a poor draft for RBs depth wise. I guess when Seattle takes a backup RB in the 1st, that kind of backs that up.    I definitely think we should keep 4 running backs and if King can play well enough then keep him too.    I believe I heard Canales say we are a running team (talking about drafting a WR he will be needing to block as well as catch). Well if we are gonna be a running team by identity we don’t need to stock the WR room to overflowing. If one room has to sacrifice, it should not be the RB room given our circumstances.
    • If there's a pattern I'm definitely picking up from Dan and company is a philosophy of making trades where we try not to sacrifice the number of draft picks we have by day's end. In other words, we're not giving up three picks for one, or giving up a future pick to make a pick today. And even if we give up something at the start, we make trades later to make up for that initial loss. Here's how it stacked up for 2026: How we started: 19, 51, 83, 119, 158, 159, 200 How we ended: 19, 49, 83, 129, 144, 151, 227 (no future picks sacrificed) Ultimately, we moved up two spots in the second to ensure we got someone we coveted, gave up a few spots for our fourth round pick, but then had better picks in the 5th (and got really good value out of them), and had a worse 7th rounder which isn't that big of a loss anyways.  At this point, we can question who they draft, but they're pretty good maneuvering across the draft board.
    • I just saw the funniest thing...or very disappointing, depending how you handle misery. A guy on YouTube did a 2027 'way too early' mock draft.  If I told you the simulator has the Panthers selecting in the top 10 , what would you say?  If I told you it was pick #8 and only two QBs were taken in the top 7, what would you say?  If I told you this dude had us taking a defensive player, what would you say?
