It's real now

Im excited for this game, and cant function at work to be honest. I am always on the huddle, reddit, Bleacher Report, ESPN, the Observer. Im reading every site there is. This is beyond my capabilities to function in a working environment.

This is a special group, however....I think that next year we will be better. Our core is here that establishes the chemistry, the work ethic etc. With the draft, we are upgrading. With free agency, we are upgrading. As long as we can re-sign Norman and KK, we will be better. Just with KB coming back, our WR core improves significantly and adds another stud into our already #1 offense. As excited as I am, I just cant fathom next season.

I have been following the panthers since i was old enough to grasp the game.  This is a far cry from the team i watched go to a superbowl in 03 04 and fall apart every other year after.  The training camps, games and events i have gone to have come to this and im so excited to have a chance to see them win the whole damn thing.

Most of you guys are retards but its been a pleasure......see you in the winners circle sunday.

Why stop there? Makes just as much sense to say Champions of the Universe then? See how ridiculous it sounds.....Lets keep it real, champions of the NFL.

Sounding ridiculous, which it really doesn't, doesn't make it untrue. Do you argue when MLB and NBA teams are also called World Champions, or perhaps rail against the World Series?

Being the champion at the world's highest level of something garners the title of World Champion.

Until the NFL (or any of the other home grown sports you mention) are played competitively on a global scale then yes I actually think its just as ridiculous.

Baseball and basketball absolutely are played on a global scale, including being a part of the Summer Olympics (basketball every time, baseball less frequently). Football is still a US game, but the concept remains the same and your premise is not factually-based.

The football fan part of me is confident.

This is me right now.  I feel good about this team, and still worry because it's football.

It's designed to bounce weirdly and erratically, for very strange things to happen, and many times on the biggest stage.

Again, not discounting the boys, but I'm not as "sure" about this as everyone else.  If you sat through the 07/08 Super Bowl, you know that anything can happen.

That said, I feel better about this game than I did the Hawks and the Cards playoff games.

Baseball I'll give you, its played by who though? A Canadian team? (Blue Jays) Cuba maybe? Japan....One team plays in the World Series to my knowledge. I guess by definition the winner could be classified as a world champion right?.....Did you watch or follow the US soccer team play in the world cup? Regardless of whether you like the sport or not a lot of sports fans were rooting for the home nation, hoping they would kick the ass of another country's team. That is a sport where a world champion can legitimately call themselves world champions.....  Lets get back to football,

I realize I'm dealing with fragile egos when it comes to calling out the 'world champions' mantra so I'll leave it alone, you can have the last word if you like, but for me I'll always wry smile and roll my eyes when I hear the term because until they compete on a world stage with teams from other countries then I'll always be bemused.

On another note can you imagine if football took off around the world? and you could then watch the very best 53 players from the NFL compete in an actual world championship?.....Now that would be pretty cool.

That's a pretty unnecessary and inflammatory statement, as you know nothing about me or anyone else on this board for that matter. You don't hear folks in the US complaining about "World Champions" in sports like hockey, cricket, rugby, or soccer simply because the US either doesn't participate, doesn't have homegrown world-class talent, or the game hasn't yet built a following here. Additionally, it's not like the US refuses to let anyone else in the world play football but still insists on a World Champion title for the NFL.

I don't really have anything else to say about this, as you've come across as quite smug - being from somewhere other than America (an assumption based off of your username, your posts, and your overall attitude in this thread) does not automatically grant some kind of enlightenment or intellectual high ground. The bottom line is that from a logical standpoint the winner at the highest level of competition of anything deserves the title of world champion. That is my point and it's not incorrect.

This'll sound more depressing than I mean it to, but this really could be as good as it gets, this is the pinnacle. I mean, I fully expect more double digit win seasons and play off wins and hopefully even a few more Superbowls but if we win on Sunday I'm not sure how you actually better this season, even if we went 19-0 next year it would feel slightly different to this because of the circumstances surrounding this season and the true emergence of Cam as the face of the league and everything else. Back in August it was only the true optimists that predicted us to be playing this weekend and even some of those changed their minds when Kelvin went down, heck I was hoping for 9-7/10-6 when we lost Benjamin.

I think in a way, those of us that are passionate about this team. See a little of ourselves in them. We can relate to a lot of the personalities on this team. The trials, the tribulation, the journey to get to this point...It's something we may never see again. It's Destiny.

This site and the events that happened and all of us have shared within this place..just makes it even more surreal. It brings such a confidence that it can be confused with cockiness... It's just that we are all sure that this team will get the job done. It's only a matter of time. The clock is ticking, once that game clock starts, those will be the most glorious 60 minutes of our and the players lives.

Sunday can't come soon enough..
