My list of needs:

1. CB: Regardless of whether we tag Josh Norman or re-sign him, we still need help at CB. I feel like Bene' is a much better outside corner than he is a nickel back, but Norman is probably here for one tagged season at best, so we need to find someone to play nickel as a rookie and move outside to replace Norman in year 2. I wouldn't mind a double-dip at this position.

2. DE: Kony Ealy balled out in the Super Bowl and is a major breakout candidate in 2016, but Charles Johnson is clearly not worth his cap figure at this point. We desperately need an upgrade over him, both in the short and long term.

3. OT: The OL is catching hell for its Super Bowl performance, but I still feel our interior OL is solid for years to come, pending Kalil's contract situation. The right tackle spot will likely be upgraded by Daryl Williams and while I expect Michael Oher to remain the starter at left tackle in 2016, we definitely need to draft someone with an eye toward replacing him in 2017.

4. RB: Stewart isn't getting any younger and while CAP showed a lot of promise as a rookie, if the opportunity presents itself I can definitely see us taking a RB early in the draft. I know we really liked Todd Gurley last year, and while we likely can't count on anyone that good falling to us, it's a position to keep an eye on.

I really feel like this needs to be addressed.  I know CAP has some skills, and there is a reason we kept Weiger, but we need someone who can still pound a defense.  Stewart, as great as he was this year, is going to be a 29 more often injured than not RB next year.  Though his miles are low, he's been doing this a long time.  I definitely think we'll be looking in the mid rounds for sure for a good value pick.

DT is a position that should will get addressed somewhere in there as well.  Short and Star both have 1 year left on their deals.  Star has the option year after that but its going to be hard to resign both of them.  Edwards is 35 and Love is a free agent.  Love should/could be resinged but even if Edwards comes back he is not the answer for the future.  Need anther solid DT that could be a rotation guy year 1&2 and hope to start year 3.  There is a guy coming out from Oklahoma that is a JR ( forget his name) super quick for a 300lb guy but has not idea how to use his hands at all.  Might be around with our pick in the second and Gettleman loves his hogmollies.

We need a real #3 WR. Whether is draft or FA. Cotchery was really bad ;ast night. Bad drops when he actually managed to get open.

#1 KB

#2 Funchess

#3 Rookie/FA

#4 Brown

#5 Ginn

Of course hoping for no injuries.

You think Ginn goes to #5 next year, after being #1 this year? I know he has his drops but he has chemistry with Cam and with KB back next year, Ginn will not draw the #1 corner from opponents and the coaches like have him in there to stretch the field.

I think:

#1 KB

#2 Ginn

#3 Funchess

#4 Brown

#5 Hill/Rookie ** I have mentioned this in a couple of threads and no one has discussed it but Cam was being interviewed a couple of weeks ago and was asked about KB being out and he said something like 'yeah it hurts but guys have stepped up". Then he said something like, 'And Stephen Hill, losing him really hurt us too'. Makes me think he was looking good in camp and maybe he was ready to contribute.

As good as he was for this year, he's not a #1 or #2 WR. We got lightening n a bottle this year. His route running beyond go routes and slants aren't great. Overly relying on him to much leads to bad things. Yesterday was a prime example.

He should go back to his role from 2 seasons ago when he was our main deep threat and big trick/misdirection play guy.

Eh.. idk about Hill. Haven't seen anything tangible. Coming off a bad injury too. We'll see.

Needs

#1 DE- easily by far biggest need.  we build our team around front 7 and big uglies.  Ealy finally starting to show something.  Allen and possibly CJ will be gone next year, and even if they come back they are not what they used to be.  You see what talented edge rushers can do.  Won the Super Bowl for Denver last night.  Carried our team just the other season with the 2nd best record in the NFL playing with a average at best offense.

after that its bpa other needs

WR- KB will be back, I'm impressed with the way Funch has come out the last half of the season.  He was open several times last night but Cam got hit.  Brown has started to come out.  But we are in a Huge dire need of a fast shifty WR who can get a step out of the slot with consistent hands.

TE-  I've actually have came away unimpressed with Dickson this post season.  He completely wiffed a couple blocks last night when helping block.

RB- CAP really didn't pop out to me when he's played any more than fozzy has done in his time here.  Don't have the feeling he will be anything more than a solid #2 RB for us, which is still good for us but still need at RB.  Guy I'm looking at this year.  I called Lockett last year and got blasted by many when i said he was better than the kid from the U who didn't do much for indy even with healthy.  One of the guys I'm keeping my eye on CJ Prosise out of ND.  GOOD athlete, with cat like balance and great vision. Would love us to get our hands on the guy in the 4th.  Played RB only for the 1st time this season and went over 1k yards averaging 6.6 yards a carry.

DT- I expect Gettleman to somehow lock up both KK and Star.  That being said, the depth here is a Huge need  a Late draft guy is needed badly.  Star's biggest weakness since he's came out is he gets fatigue late in the games and season if on the field a ton.  We need a Good solid rotational guy to come in and take some snap for Star and KK.

DB- think Boston is going to be solid.  Norman will most likely be franchised.  Our corners actually have been pretty darn good considering our #2 and #3 CB's were retired and on a practice squad mid season all due to injuries.  Gettleman has been pretty solid at finding cheap CB's that can plug in.  A slot corner is about the biggest need among the CB's.

OL- Overall has played solid this year. Staff was real high on Williams, just got bit by the injury bug early which slowed him down.  Depth behind the starters is what needs to be addressed, and possibly a top center if one falls past the 3rd to start grooming to take over for Kalil in a year or 2

1st: Ogbah, Nassib, Dodd

2nd:

(a): Hunter Henry- kids going to be a pro bowl TE but some mocks have him falling in the 2nd due to teams needing other needs.  Top tier blocker, with top Hands that doesn't drop anything

(B): Kendall Fuller- have seen his name dropping down on many mocks to the 2nd after coming out struggling this year and then tearing his meniscus

( C): DT- the DT's are super deep this year and a most likely will have a guy with a first round or top 2nd grade falling to us

(D): Jalen Mills

3rd: Pharoh Cooper, Will Fuller- Both Explosive fast shifty play makers who we need in the slot inside KB and Funch.

4th:

(A): CJ Prosise- kid could up being a steal, first year at RB and exploded.  Kid was a special teams ace and WR prior.

(B): Spencer Drago- Depth, Depth, Depth.  Think our starting OL is pretty solid.  Drago, who many had border line 1st round OT last year is being projected at OG after his knee injury.  Kid could fill in as a backup at OG and OT.

Yeah, I saw we interviewed him at the Senior Bowl. Maybe a replacement for Joe Webb? WR, KR emergency QB.

Kid is going to put good #'s at the combine and shoot up the board.  He's a project player who I don't want to touch.  Webb does more than just WR, QB, and return.  He's a great ST coverage guy to.  Braxton isn't going to come in and do that.  I also think it's going to take him a little to develop into that return WR.  Can't remember if he returned punts at Ohio state.  If not I fully expect him to take a bit like Armanti.  Pharoh Cooper, kid can come in and return and play the spot right away and we can get him on the 3rd

    • I'm not a huge fan of BY, but he does have some clutchness developing
    • While you're correct, people are just sick of being told, "you don't understand this, you're dumb" despite what their eyes say. This applies to the Panthers and anything else in life. This board can be a miserable place, but this isn't the old days anymore because Social Media & Reddit have hijacked old-school forum users.  I have in the last year or so taken a massive step back from Social Media & Reddit. Deleted accounts on both, I only have X/Twitter now. But I was looking for an outlet for Panthers talk and I did not want to do that on X much at all. There are only two legitimate outlets for that I've found, here and SB Nation. SB Nation I used to partake in, but they absolutely bumble-f*cked the comments section, and I like the setup of the posts + comments, as opposed to article + comments. Also, as others have pointed out, being a Panthers fan has been a horrendous existence since Cam left. Just an awful crew of coaches, draft picks, trading away great players, etc. It's been miserable.  Ever since Tepper bought the team, I hoped that he commit to a full rebuild. He never did, he thought there were shortcuts and so did Rhule. This hamstrung us for years, and then he massively overstepped with the BY trade.  This ruined the team building, because there was no depth, and then it ruined nuanced BY discussions because of the insane haul we gave up. He will never live up to that, I think many people are finally wrapping their heads around that now which is good. The best thing for this board to get better is for the Panthers to win more, draft well, and to stay committed to crawling through this Andy Dufrense poop-pipe to escape the depths of NFL hell. It will be ugly and stink along the way, but you can see already this year if we commit to drafting then the team and the vibes can turn around quicker than you think.  I am extremely optimistic about the draft class this season, it's something to watch, talk about, and celebrate. It also gives Dan and I think by extension Dave Canales more of a leash, which I think we need to give them and grant them the time to turn this boat around.
