This isn't really supposed to be a "Fire Shula" thread.  I just wanted to present two reasons why I think he'll be here for sure next season.  I don't think he'll be getting any calls for head coaching gigs, and of course the Panthers won't be releasing him.  I wanted to know what people thought of him coming back.  Personally, I'm more worried than hopeful.

We played the best defense in the league this year and looked bad doing it.  It was just an off day, it happens and it sucks that it was in the Super Bowl but I really don't want to get a new OC in here and start all over with Cam.  Personally I think the offense we run is best suited for Newton...all we need is Benji back, upgrade at RT, have Funchess back with a full year of development and I think we'll be fine

He should have gotten a HC job. A lot better than some of these fools that got hired. 

Was Shula the one responsible for setting up max pro? Was Shula the one responsible for calling a double pass play? Was Shula responsible for sending Fozzy between the tackles on power runs? Was Shula the one responsible for not game planning Von Miller? Was Shula the one responsible for expecting Mike Remmers to match up with Von Miller and Michael Oher to match up with Ware 1 on 1 when it was 3rd and long?

You have to answer yest to all of these questions because they directly link back to Shula's responsibility. The biggest error is an OC that treats Von Miller like a typical pass rusher on 3rd down instead of at least rubbing him with 1 or 2 receivers.

He'll get one more year, if the Panthers still can't get to the mountain top he's gone. Sometimes coaching is the only thing holding a team back, look at the Broncos this year after they fired John Fox.

Defend Shula all you want.  How did the play calling CHANGE during the course of the game?  It didn't.  For 60 minutes we stayed with the same plan that wasn't working.

"we kept running long developing routes" is a myth and a reflexive holdover from the first half of 2014. we ran a ton of short stuff and just didn't connect on it, or ended up with turnovers at absolutely horrible times.

take away cam's pick (teddy's fault) and tolbert's second fumble and i think we win this game.

I'm trying to understand why he did not call more screens or quick slants to negate that rush. It was obvious from the start that they were stopping the run and he never changed it up.

I suspect the Shula hate has been bubbling under the surface all year when things were going well but just erupted because of the superbowl. Shula called a bad game, but we had the #1 scoring offense for a good reason, and at this point in his career, right at the start of his prime is it really wise having Cam learn a new offense just when we've finally got it working with Shula?
