Why Weddle won't be a Panther

Few points:

1-A safety is an addition many are thinking we should go for.

2-Weddle mentioned us as one of the teams he wants to play for (Pitt and NE included)

3-Person mentioned the team is interested (for whatever that's worth)

4-He's a highly regarded safety with high character and a history with our coaching staff

Factor in it's the offseason, that we're on a Panthers message board and the fact that he's at the top of many FA rankings...and could probably be had for a reasonable contract IMO, it makes perfect sense why he's being discussed.

Do you understand what it means that Oliver is 25 and Weddle is 31, not to mention everything else going on in this scenario?

Not sure why so many people want two FSs. I guess it's a name they know. I can't see us ever making a big day 1 signing under DG anyway.

Weddle is the same age as Harper, who everyone referred to as old man around here but want to sign same age old man to a big 4 yr contract. Homie don't play dat.

We'll see what he gets paid in the coming days, and who by. I bet he gets more than Gipson per year on a shorter deal by another team. If it's us and lower I'll be happy as hell to admit I was wrong. I understand this situation as well as anybody and can look at it objectively without thinking that because we went to the Super Bowl and CJ took a pay cut then we'll sign Weddle for peanuts. And until I see DG sign an outside top-tier free agent then I won't expect it to happen. He's signed many top-tier players. All Panthers though.
