Manziel vs RG3

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

RG3 is said to want to play for the Rams. No word if they want him but they do have need at quarterback.

Manziel reportedly wanted the Cowboys, but Stephen Jones has indicated that's not likely.  Manziel's off field issues are going to make it rough for him.

Speculation has linked 49er coach Chip Kelly to both.  In the case of Manziel, Kelly actually recruited him while at Oregon.  All the 49er speculation is of course dependent on what happens with Colin Kaepernick, whom the 49ers have said they're not trading even though trade discussions are reportedly going on behind the scenes.

So, two questions...

Which one gets a new job first?

Which one has greater potential to be successful in their new job?

Might as well throw squidward into this:

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Colin Kaepernick "wants" to play in Cleveland.
Well, that's a first. Per Schefter, Kaepernick "respects" Browns head coach Hue Jackson. That feeling appears to be mutual as Jackson was high on Kaepernick leading up to the 2011 draft. The Broncos and Jets have been linked to Kaepernick in recent days but according to Ross Tucker of NBCSN, the Browns are "negotiating against themselves." The Broncos could make a late push but for now, the Browns appear to be in the lead for Kaepernick. Stay tuned.

why would anyone ever 'want' to play for the Browns?

To make millions of dollars playing a game that children play.

I mean, I'd take a six figure paycheck to lose games. Unfortunately that seems to be the only culture that team has cultivated over the years.

And to answer the question: RG3. Injury risk sure, but he's not a dumbass off the field like Billy Vegas.

To be fair though, most of us wouldn't have better options.

What we'd do if we did may not be the same.

Well, if you sign a big contract with lots of guaranteed money, you'll probably be cut next year so there is the potential to top 20 mill for the season and still get out of Cleveland before your career is in the shitter.

    • It's definitely a historical issue at QB but to be perfectly blunt, we also don't do a good job of really developing almost any position if you look at the last decade or so. I tend to be on the side of that being far less a development issue than an evaluation deficiency.  I think we are in the situation at QB2/3 recently due to the overall roster being absolutely abhorrent and the QB classes being quite thin. It is harder to justify another Matt Corral(or several) when you can potentially get a real two deep contributor at other positions.  But, it was a lot of hard work to get to the point where are roster is so incredibly bad that luxury picks literally are not in our vocabulary.  This is the reaping what you sow portion of our history.
    • That is what I meant about our front office. They are like someone filling out a March Madness bracket based on preference of uniform colors and mascots. There's no rhyme of reason to some of these fugg'n mind numbing decisions they make.  They go all in on these flimsy-@ss prospects and are gun shy when it comes to more solid prospects.  It's literally maddening and the reason I stopped being so emotionally involved in this team. Heck the only reason I'm active on the board today is one, it's my day off and two, it's cut down time.
