Best case (realistic) scenario for the remaining games

Hornets win out: at WAS, at BOS, vs ORL

Celtics win at ATL, lose vs CHA, lose vs MIA

Heat win vs ORL, lose at DET, win at BOS

Hawks lose vs BOS, lose at CLE, win at WAS

this winds up with us in 3rd place and the rest of the three stooges in a tie for 4th.. it all starts tonight with Boston winning at Atlanta. if that doesn't happen - we can wave good bye to the 3rd spot because i'm not betting on Washington to beat the Hawks the last game of the season

So as we sit here now in a three way tie with one game to go, it looks like our best seed available is 5 since MIA or BOS will get one more win.  Since we can't get home court, would we rather play ATL, MIA, or BOS?

1.Boston - we would win this series IMHO

2.Miami - we will probably take them to 6 or 7 and lose

3.Atlanta - 2nd best team in the East right now.. possible sweep, 1-2 wins at best

Would definitely rather play BOS or MIA.  We don't match up well against ATL.  Unfortunately, I think we lose in the 1st round if we get them.

We have been owned by Atlanta the last few years. I hope we get them, few things would bring me as much joy as knocking them out of the playoffs and making them blow up their team.

Out of the remaining teams, Hawks are the least talented but they always find a way to win with their ball movement. plus we always suck vs them. With that being said, theyre still my choice over Heat and Celtics

If Miami beats Boston tonight and Hornets win on Wednesday, Charlotte (5 seed) will play Miami (4 seed).

If Boston beats Miami tonight and Hornets win on Wednesday, Charlotte (5 seed) will play Boston (4 seed). We lose the seeding tiebreaker via a head-to-head tiebreaker (Boston 2-1).

If Charlotte loses on Wednesday, we will be the 6th seed no matter what.

If Atlanta loses to Washington on Wednesday, only Miami has a chance at the 3 seed. Miami owns the division tiebreaker against Atlanta and Atlanta owns the head-to-head tiebreaker against Boston.

 

Just a general idea of where Charlotte could end up and who they play (my brain hurts). That loss on Sunday was huge and to a Wizards team without Wall and Beal.

Miami plays Detroit tonight and Boston tomorrow. I think Detroit could beat Miami but doubt they will. I think it will end up:

But, assuming everyone wins out, we still wouldn't have passed Atlanta and would have still wound up with the 4-5 matchup.

We can still "technically" gain home court if we can steal one in Miami or Boston, which we've shown we can do this season.

While it sucked from a momentum standpoint they pretty much did everything in their power against Boston to show that was a fluke solely based on the start time.

This team lost HCA when they lost to bad Denver and Phoenix teams during that Western road swing from hell and laid an egg against Denver at home before beating the Spurs.

They definitely improved this season but are still not at a point where they are competitive enough against title teams to afford to have those off nights if they want a high seed.
