Round 1 RB Derrick Henry

A lot of people hate the idea of picking Henry in the 1st round but when Stewart got hurt in the Super Bowl this team lost its way in the running game. Fozzy is reliable in spurts but not if Stewart goes down and CAP fumbles the ball too much when given the opportunity. Henry is a monster and he does have break away speed at the next level. He could become a better receiver and he would have the best coaching staff to learn how to do so. Ricky Proehl anybody?

 

Round 2 (Trade Up With Our 3rd Rounder) TE Austin Hooper

We move up to the middle part of round 2 and select a tight end that most consider the 2nd best tight end in the draft. Although Hooper is not as complete of a player as Hunter Henry he possesses a lot of talent. He could be the perfect fit with Olsen in two tight end sets. He will need to work on his blocking some and he will need to polish his receiving game some but again we have the coaching staff to allow that.

 

Round 4 CB Harlan Miller

This guy is an intriguing pick in the 4th round. He could be a huge success or a complete bust. The only problem is knowing if his success at a small school (SE Louisiana) will translate into the NFL. He has the highlights to prove his skill but his combine performance was less than acceptable. With the right coaching (seems like I use that a lot and I should) he could be a good mid round gem.

Round 5 OT Brandon Shell

Scouts say that Shell does not have the feet to play left tackle and maybe he doesn't. However, that same thing has been said before and turned out incorrect in the past about players not being able to do something. He will provide depth to the OL and may be able to start in spurts.

 

Round 7 WR Hunter Sharp

Sharp had a bad combine and dropped passes a lot of times last season. He could pan out as a depth WR but it is hard to make the 53 man roster when the roster is mostly full already. He will be given a chance to showcase his skill or be cut. On a team this good getting picked in the 7th round is no promise of making the roster.

 

This is about the best I could come up with while also taking into account who we have met with. It most certainly could end up totally different but I took a stab at it. I think this draft solves problems we have and also sticks to best player available. I trust our front office either way.

I like this mock, good job on making picks based on both fact (who we have met with) and also some reasoning along with draft pick value.

Derrick Henry will always polarize people, personally I dont have a problem with him there especially given your reasoning with the pick, but can easily see us taking an OT, DT or DE there too if someone tumbles that we have a high grade on like Jarran Reed or Jack Conklin.  Or if we thought we could get him in the first 10 picks of the second, I could see a trade back if the offer is good, and have 2 second rd picks, grab him and Hooper and perhaps net a high third or a future 1st.

I really dont think we have to trade up to get Hooper though, I suspect he will be there when we pick in the second.  We showed some interest in him, more than in Hunter Henry, so good call on him.  Also good call on Miller, I think he is high on our radar as a mid-rdr.

I could see us keeping the third and taking an OT there, esp if La'Raven Clark is on the Board, then using the 5th on Byard at S, or if Weatherly is there in the 5th we take him at DE.

I still think DG does something in the draft to come away with a pass rusher or DT (or both) but could see it breaking this way too.

Or Willie Henry. But if those two are available it is very possible we take one of them.

Not too bad, dude, but I think it's safe to say we are definitely taking a DE in this draft, either in the 1st or the 2nd.  Need to get after the QB consistently in order to help out our secondary.  Also, it would be wise to draft a SS.  All we have there now is Boston and some people are still concerned if he's ready to be a full-time starter or if he's even cut out to be a SS.

I think DE in the 1st and trade up for Henry or Shepherd would be better.

I could see DE in 3rd round if we do not trade up. We will all see very soon ;+)

This kind of what I'm thinking too. I think Derrick Henry is the pick if a better value DT or DE doesn't fall. If we go Henry in the 1st I think we go defense at 2 and 3 but with a bpa approach. Best available defender could be a DT or possibly Kendall Fuller if he falls that far, otherwise we might go TE, OT or WR like Hooper, Boyd or Shepherd. I like Harlan Miller and we've been vetting him since early in visits, think he ends up being a 3rd, also a OT like Shon Coleman might get picked.

I woudn't mind Derrick Henry because cameron artist payne had to go be a jackass and probably fug up his spot

We shall see. You never truly know with us lately in the draft. You are most likely correct.
