Cam Newton says he let people down with post-Super Bowl news conference

Didn't disappoint me one bit but I can understand how some people would have thought it was childish.  Cam is a winner that absolutely hates losing.  I think there will always be moments throughout his career like this.  Lets just hope for his and our sake that he wins every single game till his career is over :)

Losing the biggest game in the league was more important than 1 or 100 press conferences where some dickhead is loudly gloating literally right next to the losing team. The Broncos have seemingly gone out of their way to be sore winners in all this, but hey, they are the champs, so it comes with the territory.

I didn't honestly care one bit about how he handled or mishandled the press conference. I want him to hate losing. What's ironic about this is, any Panthers fan who isn't a recent bandwagoner should know full well exactly the kind of culture change this franchise had to go through when Cam came along. Guys were content with losing, mediocrity became almost normal. There is no other way to describe it. Newton's presence was a huge factor in gradually changing this, if you want the wins, you have to take the whole package. Cam is who he is, if you have a problem with him being livid about losing, then you can always go watch Jimmy Clausen play quarterback to your hearts delight. Otherwise, pipe down, and enjoy the ride. It's that simple really.

I don't like that he came out and said anything.  Personally, I'd rather him stick to his guns as the Nicest Villan in the NFL.  He's cocky, rubs it in your face a bit, an entertainer/icon type.  The anti-Brady/Manning.  Doesn't like losing.  Those are all endearing to me.  That's MY QB.  He's the best player on the field at all times.

To me, the apology is in a way going back on that persona.  You can't really be both, in my opinion.  The funny thing is that the entire NFL, not limited to the Broncos, have gone out of their way to poo on Cam.  Don't open it up with apologies.  Double down in this case.  Continue to dab in their heads.

As a rational adult, I get why he wanted to do that.  But as a fan, I was OK with him being a sore loser of the Super Bowl.  More fuel for next year.

Or he could be transitioning his image a bit too. Sometimes, Cam's hard to read (like his posting...OMFG!)

Maybe his parents said something to him to get him to change his stance a little. The people who hate Cam will NEVER like him no matter what. It is what it is.

Also, I can understand Cam's tweets and instagram posts when I read them ON THE FIRST TRY!

LMAO! JK!

I bet his family wanted him to tow the line a little bit more because Cam does get folks everywhere taking shots at him.  Again, I can understand that.  It would be so much easier to be as loved as Payton Manning was..I mean he practically pooed gold.  How many people spewed the hate at Mannings way?  His image even survived the whole HGH and 90s sex scandle.

Anyone that considers themselves a competitor naturally hates to freaking lose. I can never blame the guy for being angry and pissed off right after that kind of loss. I wouldn't have wanted to speak to the media either until I had sometime to calm down and cool off.

    • That's a very incorrect statement right off the bat, coaches get fired for winning ugly all the time.  Every coach of a playoff team that then gets fired, got fired because they won ugly and didn't improve their players enough to win in the postseason. Guys like Andy Reid have been fired for "winning ugly" like you said, because they kept winning in spite of the improvement of their players. Also, "this is a fanbase starved for wins" is a statement I also don't agree with, I'm not "starved for wins", I'm "starved for a winning and contending franchise" which are two VERY different things. If the team and fans just want to win some games, then that's a loser mentality, sorry, but it is.  We should want to contend, not win a handful of games.  Every time this comes up I point back to the Lions the last 5 years or so.  They were losing games but improving every week while doing so a few years back.  THAT is how you improve as a franchise and move the needle towards contending, not winning games ugly.
    • Good lord. I don’t think I have ever seen a hole that open.
    • this is true.  But NFL Ss and defenses are actively taking that away and playing to take them away vs most teams.  The problem thus far in BY's career......is they are cheating and not respecting the deep game which makes the smaller/mid range game harder to pull off.  and Dallas is an anomaly game.  using those random games that run counter to vast work......doesn't really change the discussion/issues in Carolina.  Bryce Young took the shots this week because they were not just NFL open but college open.    Wide open dudes downfield that really were coverage busts/issues.
