not disagreeing with that

but we also now life in the world where people have little respect for authority and think virtually nothing applies to them and that they should be able to get out of anything.  Based on the video alone, I would be willing to bet the woman was far from innocent in her initial act and more important how she reacted to the officers.

Can't really disagree with you as well. Both sides have caused this and both resist change.

Can't drive a golf cart at Bald Head Island under the age of 16 is it?  Dang...if that applied around here the jails would be full of kids for 4-wheeling.  Not to mention other beach resorts where kids drive them all the time.  But the law is the law and you should respect it.

Unless you're a contractor and in need of regular vehicles, golf carts are the only mode of motorized transportation on the isle. I'm guessing that is why the 16 age restriction exists.

Regardless.... how do the words mom, vacation, Bald Head Island, golf cart, beach, kid end up in the same story with...

cops, handcuffs, face down, asphalt, arrest,

Beach cops typically have a lot better temperament than this. Sorry, but I have my doubts about their side of this story.

what makes you believe the "mom" though...

the mom on her own accord admits she was very angry and got up in the cops face at one point (and anything she admits to will be a toned down version of events).

We also know that she was down there celebrating a 22 yr olds birthday.  Yet she gives the standard, I only had one drink hours and hours ago with dinner defense.

I don't see how anyone could take a side in it.  She probably acted up after being caught...and then cops went hard on her.  Dealing with cops is actually easy.  Don't be an idiot and surprisingly things work out fine.

Not disputing any of that. Have you seen pics of "mom?"

Seriously, all of maybe 5'4" and maybe 120. 2 cops to the ground, knees in the back and cuffed face down, really? Sorry, I don't see the need, drunk or not.

And hopefully there was better reason than "got up in the cops face." Short of actual intentional physical contact, I'm not sure how one can justify a take down.

Doesn't matter to me.  I know lots of small ladies that can get real nasty.  If someone is resisting, there really is no "nice" way to handle it.   I mean small statured angry and intoxicated person actually can put up a heck of a fight if you are trying to "nicely" control them.

I don't believe any of them.

I also don't feel sorry for anyone that dares a cop and gets put in their place.  Could talk about the girl getting flipped out of the desk a few months back.  I got no beef with it.

if a cop tells you do X and you refuse and get loud and in their face....they don't have to wait for you to continue to escalate it further and for them to get attacked.

I think too often we side against the cop to quick.  Plenty IMO exists about the "mom" here to question how much of a victim she really was and how much of an instigator should could of been.

I usually side with the cops and am pretty understanding of what they face on a daily basis since I spend a lot of time alongside them and work pretty closely with the Dept. But if all it takes to set one off is a mouthy, small, possibly intoxicated woman, there's a problem somewhere.

Myself and my inspectors get mouthed at daily. Cursed and threatened is part of our daily routine and sometimes it's with a cop escort, but I have yet to see an officer take someone down for running their mouth.

Jus' sayin'.

think thats weird read this article in Forbes

Everyone in Brunswick county that was involved in the drug game knows about the sheriff departments corruption and involvement in the drug trade, specifically heroin and blow, during Hewetts time as sheriff. There's a reason he was stabbed to death in jail.

well, I am not excusing the cops of wrong doing.

I just don't feel sorry for people who meet Mr. Bad cop after they show their arse and basically try to dare a cop into doing something.   Maybe that happened here, maybe it didn't.

Stabbed to death ?  I don't think so, but if you want to wear that tin foil hat be my guest.

Meh, was meant as a jail figure of speach, yah know, a good shanking. Regardless the cops beat and tased him to death and he knew it was coming.

    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
    • I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
