Warriors Targeting Batum

I don't like the way this is playing out...

Free agents Nicolas Batum and Evan Turner are among the players being considered at small forward, per sources, if the Warriors don't get Kevin Durant. Which means the Warriors will be taking a long, hard look at if they can do better than Harrison Barnes.

If we lose Batum,  may as well go ahead and tank.  There isn't another wing on the market outside of KD that is capable of making the impact he does on a team.  It could be argued that Batum is the most complete all-around player in the league.  If we dont do anything else this offseason, we have to retain him.

You could take every top free agent at this point and fill in the blanks for every team right now

Lets wait to start tearing down what this team next season will be until the chips start falling in place.

If we dont come out of this free agency with a resigned batum , and two of Lin , Lee , Williams plus a free agent big then we cant start talking about how this team messed up.

The situation with Batum is sort of unique in that his deal sort of needs to be done quickly so that the French team can get insurance on him so he can play for them in the Olympics. While he's a "FA", the French team can't get the necessary insurance on him, they'll be cutting it close to get it and get ready for the Olympics. Batum wants to return to the Hornets, Cho will make sure this deal gets done so Nic can go play in the Olympics.

Noah has been offered a 4 yr $120M deal from the Wizards, like really? Parson will be offered something similar to that. KD will probably do the 2 yr with the 1 yr opt out, so he can see if he'll get a larger deal after the 1 yr since Westbrook is a FA next yr.

Yea targeting doesn't mean offering.  Even if we do overpay, he's stated he wants to stay here.  GS just lost the finals and Cho isn't dumb in FA.  We can be chicken littles if he does sign, but for now let's just relax.

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?
    • I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!
    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
