Cam Newton's contract ranked as 2nd-best value among NFL quarterbacks:

Not sure who to thank more for this, Gettleman for getting the right deal, or Cam for elevating his game higher than what they are now perceiving his worth..

“It might seem odd that a player making over $20 million per year is “underpaid,” but it isn’t until 2019 that Newton is among the top seven quarterbacks in terms of cap hit,” Jahnke writes. “It isn’t farfetched to think that, in a few years when some of the top quarterbacks have retired, Newton could be the best quarterback in the NFL. Even though he is eventually projected to be among the top five highest-paid quarterbacks with how much the salary cap is increasing, it wouldn’t be surprising if other QBs get new contracts for more money. As long as Cam Newton continues to play as well as he did in 2015, he will be underpaid for years to come.”

Cam is in a perfect position to accept a fair deal in order to keep our team competitive. The more he wins, the more his star power is going to rise. His celebrity appeal is already off the charts. He is the 2nd highest endorsement earner behind Peyton and he hasn't even won a super bowl yet.

He's only underpaid when it comes to his Panthers paycheck. I think he knew it was unwise, in regard to the success of the team, to try and break the bank with his contract.

When some of the top QBs retire? Cam is already a top QB in the league. Anybody that doesn't think so, is just being disingenuous, or still has bias against Cam, the Panthers or both.

Well, Nate Burleson agrees. He got everybody's jimmies rustled with his list.  Carson Palmer though?

There is only ONE QB I would probably take over Cam, and that's Rodgers, and even I hesistate on that because we all saw just how mediocre Rodgers is without Jordy.

Other than that, I have a hard time taking anybody else (maybe Wilson, but I hate his fake ass). Brady is on the out, Luck is a turnover machine and overhyped, Big Ben is still a good QB but getting injury prone, Brees is on the out but still has a couple good years left in him, and no way in hell i would EVER take Palmer over Newton.

So according to that, it isn't "farfetched" to say that Newton is THE BEST QB IN THE LEAGUE NOW!

Think Cam will define so many things before he is done and sure hope he will decide to do his career as a Panther.

He gave us a very budget friendly deal for who he is and what he can do.

You know that a 53 man roster and if every one got 3 mil. we would be over cap.  We have some great talents taking a little less to be part of something special.

This Panther's Team has a chance to rewrite the record books.  I for one am in favor of it!!!!

Go Cam Go Panthers !!!!!!

I can't in good conscience keep Rodgers or Breesus off this list. Breesus has been criminally under rated his entire career and I take him over Palmer or the rapist any day of the week.

He got the top 3 right if you are starting your own team. There is no other QB i would take on my team than Cam. Age and versatility are on his side.

    • yeah but whats a drop, because at this point bryce defenders point to anything that hits a part of the receivers body as a drop  like when renfrow had to stop and twist and reach behind himself yesterday are we calling that a drop? because that's a terrible throw. Just because someone can get a paw on it doesn't mean it should have been caught or wasn't a bad throw  and his defenders get so caught up in this that they ignore the simple fact that this kind of production is just what the panthers have gotten from the QB position since he's been here, and that stretches across multiple coaching staffs and wide receiver rooms.  What's the common factor in three years of 12/25, 125 yards, maybe a TD, maybe a lost fumble, maybe an interception, around 20 points scored when things are going well
    • We'll see. I mean, I don't see us winning many games where we barely throw for under 130 yards and 0 TDs. So I'm not worried about that. If we end up with a better than expected record then Bryce will have to put up significantly better numbers.
    • Go watch his call placement to Renfrow on the year.   Or basically every WR that isn’t an eraser like TMac who can just pull of some insanity.   he should have a high completion % given where a mass % of his throw locations are
