Sessions Signs 2yr/12.5M Deal to Return to Charlotte

If we could find a way to get Bogut or one of the other available bigs in a trade without mortgaging the future we should be in a position to compete for 2nd in the east. We were one of the best teams in the NBA at home last year, get MKG healthy and Batum and Kemba more comfortable with each other and no reason we can't be one of the best teams in the NBA period. I mean we have brought almost everyone back, we swapped Lin for Sessions(small downgrade) Lee for a hopefully healthy MKG(potentially huge upgrade) added Bellini(meh) and we lost Al. All in all not a bad offseason.

Without a center we will probably be right outside the playoffs. It is a very important position in the NBA.

Bogut is being dealt to the Mavs I believe. Cho will need to find someone else to trade for

We are the exact same at center as last year this year minus Al who missed what half the year? So I don't see how we suddenly get so much worse, especially considering MKG will be back healthy(all indications I've seen point to him being recovered by the start of the year). Ideally we find someway to get another viable big man in the fold but even if we don't I think we will be fine(in terms of making the playoffs, I don't see us winning a championship regardless of what we do).

Famous saying for the NBA if you are not getting better you are getting worse. Many teams in the east made moves to position themselves into the playoffs. We have one possible upgrade and that is a healthy MKG. If roll with Zeller at center it will come back to haunt us as he is not a true NBA center. He is a good back up PF and can play center in spurts here and there but that is it. It is a major hole on this team and one that the Miami Heat exploited in their series with us.

after doing some more research i see Sessions is a bargain (contract worth and stat-wise) compared to Lin.. their numbers were very comparable:

Jeremy Lin - 12 ppg - 3 apg - 3 rpg = 3yrs $36mil
R. Sessions - 10 ppg - 3 apg - 2.5 rpg = 2 yrs 12.5mil

after looking at that I am pretty happy..

now after Marvin was signed, they said we had about a lil over $10 mil in cap space.. minus $6.25 for Sessions, that leaves us around $3.75 mil.. not enough for a big time player but if we are able to trade Lamb or Hawes or even Zeller.. OR maybe Jordan needs to make an executive move and go into the luxury tax.. i doubt he will do though.. im still holding out hope for Vucevic or Monroe.. there are rumors of Diaw being avaiable to make room for Gasol in San Antonio - i can see Cho trading for him and all of us committing suicide at once.. lol

Yeah, i like Sessions, i'm just very familiar with his limitations.

He also didn't have nearly good a roster around him the first time around.

Ready for the moratorium to be over with so we can move pieces around.

we will have enough next year for a max type player

obviously the big fish is Curry come home

there are some more guys just need to see how this team plays this season

remember weve given Gordon Hayward a max deal once already once but i doubt we would go after him with batum taking his spot currently

    • Look, I've been pounding on the Canales shouldn't be calling the offensive plays thing since last year. He's first off, not very versatile and makes Ron Rivera look like a master of mid-game adjustments. Also, because I think you really, really need to be calling the offensive plays from the booth with a better view of the whole field.  A coach on the field cannot grasp how the opposing sideline WR is doing in coverage while also checking the two receivers on his side, plus keep up with how the line is doing and if the RB is in the groove. Heck, for the line alone he doesn't have the best view of where the RB is going to see success and how to best exploit it. Hence Rico saying, Yo coach, keep running this.  Still, all these things in there, no matter how hard I'm banging on that drum, I can't let it drown out my joy in getting one of those rare Ws. Even coaches can learn and grow from them. I sure hope he will.
    • I fully understand the questioning of Dave and BY, just the timing of your concerns is my problem. NFL is ultra hard to pull off the perfect game. In all my years Ive never seen a HC have the perfect game plan and have great play call after great play call.  Tmac has helped in every game, honestly more than I thought he was going to show. It does look like he was in fact the reason to trade AT and allow Tamc to feast on his targets. I have re-watched the wins, I have seen Tmac get red zone looks. Brother, he's about the 80-90% of passing attack. Dave is young inexperienced HC and he's learning on the job, hope he improves along with BYs confidence.    Its going to be alllllll right, trust me as your co-pilot.
    • You cannot hate his character, but he is holding the team back. There is so much we can't do because of his limitations. It just is what it is
