Bourbon/whiskey recommendation

So...which one is moderately priced and gives the most bang for the buck?  Do not drink straight...mix with ginger-ale.  Interested in opinions...especially PhillyB's.

if you're mixing it there's no need to drop sixty bucks on a bottle. my go-to if i'm mixing (as a whiskey sour or whiskey ginger) is maker's mark. you can get it for about thirty bucks, it's iconic, a call-brand at bars, and tastes damn good. you can get .75 or 1.75 liter bottles in most ABC stores, depending on how much you're trying to drink.

if you want cheaper than that, try something like jim beam, or early times if you've got a bottom level budget. a few bucks higher? go for woodford, bulleit, or knob creek - they'll run you between 35-45 a bottle.

but at the end of the day i say go with maker's mark.

Makers Mark is damn good but I'm also from Surry county so Jim Beam Or Wild Turkey will do just fine.... Or my personal favorite Surry county home brew

I've said it before, Early Times is a surprisingly good cheap whiskey.

I can get one of these here for $36 and it beats out anything else I've had, even stuff in the $80-$100 range.

If you need a good vodka try this out. $20 a bottle and worlds better than most stuff out there, even Grey Goose and the like.

i'm assuming she wants a tennessee/kentucky whiskey... scotch gets a little harder to recommend. i would drink glenfiddich for thirty six bucks i guess but i've never been a big fan. i am a macallan guy through and through (and laghavoulin here lately.)

ha! that's fitting actually, that poo is absolute swill until you've developed a palate for it. i hated smoky, peaty scotch for years until i finally started drinking it with earthy cigars and realized how well they complement each other.

i still hate laphroigh though, it smells like bandaids.
