Luke Kuechly - Human Missile

Going over the game last night. This play is just incredible. Luke shoots between 75 and 62, sneaks behind 77 and goes untouched, and has the runner dead to rights. The play lasts under 3 seconds. From his reaction, he just knew he did something special.

There are plenty of teams in the NFL that wish they had a middle linebacker that could do this half as good.

Exactly. I remember that hit Thomas Davis laid on the Cardinals running back in the NFCCG. It was nasty and the stadium exploded cheering.

Damn... something in my eye. God... that game was our Super Bowl last year. My favorite game of all time.

Literally from the snap, I saw the number 59 raging across my tv screen.  The whole time I was watching this play I was thinking if I were the RB, I might have start running the other way toward the endzone behind me.  Man, I don't know of a linebacker who played like this specifically in recent time.  I can't recall Urlacher flashing across my screen like this.

Not to take anything away from Luke and his awesomeness, but how much affect did 61(RT) tripping impact the play?

The Right Guard #75 was actually Luke's man and he's still upright.  He just couldn't get to Luke in time because Luke's pre-snap diagnosis gave him a two-step lead.

    • Been here a while but rarely post and most of them are smartazz. Mostly lurk just so I can sound informed while hanging out drinking beer in my neighbors garage. Amusingly a Huddle level of knowledge kind of makes you a subject matter expert. Thanks for that.
    • That’s similar as saying MVP Cam is the same as rookie Cam because his mechanics didn’t change. We’re talking about production.
    • In 2025 Sam Darnold had over 1k more passing yards than Bryce Young on 1 less pass attempt. Repeat that to yourself several times and let it sink in. I absolutely love it when people come on here and invoke Sam Darnold like some gotcha. Darnold is the physical prototype for what anyone needs in a franchise QB. All the physical tools. Few people thought he would put it all together on the mental side of the position. He used to make some of the worst decisions you would ever see. At times in the past he made up for that with absurd throws and athleticism. But make no mistake whatsoever no matter how you feel about our starting QB. Bryce Young is a completely opposite conundrum. He lacks virtually any and all physical tools and athleticism and his elite processing is really mediocre at best on a good day and horrific on a bad day. These are realities people should have already been addressing instead of quadrupling down in year four.
