If we lose to Trevor Siemian......

It's not the end of the world, but losing to a first time starter would be brutal. I always felt like week 1 was the tone setter for the rest of the season.

I still believe we beat the Broncos by 30 week 1

I live in Denver. He actually looks pretty smooth. I would expect a good game next week.

Would have merit behind it if he was still playing at a pro bowl level, we lost to him when wounded ducks looked better than his throws.

Brady got outplayed by Peyton in the AFC championship, so it's not like he was a total cancer out there.

No. Brady got outplayed by the Denver defense.

It seems like a lot of us are making the same mistake we made before the SB by underestimating our opponent just because they don't have a big name at QB. Make no mistake, this will be a hard fought game, especially when you consider that the Panthers are notoriously slow starters. Even last year, we squeaked by in a lot of games.

Brady 1 TD 2 ints

Manning 2tds 0 ints

Manning won that matchup

But your making out to be like Peyton was Jimmy Clausen. Peyton was still controlling a lot that game, making audibles. And when Peyton got hurt the Broncos gave up more sacks than any other team in the league, so it's not like he had an all world supporting cast.

What a tough loss that was

I remember we were up 14-0 in the first 5 minutes of the game, one of the TD's was an end-around to Smith, then it was all down hill

i think the cowboys actually set a franchise record for points scored in a quarter in that game.

it was just pathetic and i had to answer to my die hard cowboys fan boss the next day.  the crowning jewel of the john fox "okay we're up two scores in the first, time to shut the offense down for the rest of the game" years.  we actually had a similar collapse against the texans the next season.  got up 14-0 and then gave up 30+ unanswered.

He's not Jimmy Clausen but he was nowhere near what he used to be. The fact is Denver's defense  won that game for them. It's not like this is some big secret or anything.

Brady got hit, knocked down, or sacked more than 20 times in that game.  Manning was under nowhere near the constant assault that Brady was dealing with.

You do understand that Brady was playing against Denver's defense and not Peyton Manning, right?

And this.

And this.

Actually Peyton's line was just as bad as Brady's, rewatch the game tape.

The difference is Peyton didn't have to pass as much and was making his decisions quicker. Meanwhile Brady was making some really stupid decisions, passing it into double coverage and getting fooled by Von Miller dropping back

Traditionally under Rivera. The more game tape, the better. So starting this guy is a bit of a concern. It's also why I think we get off to slower starts than finishes. Even last year when we started 4-0 we didn't look as impressive as we did mid season. We didnt look good against the Jags. We were sloppy against the Texans. We almost let Luke McCown beat us. And that Tampa game was just weird. The first 4 weeks of last year was basically Josh Norman saving us over and over.

Thankfully the QB'S we play aren't exactly all pro at the start of the season. So are slow starts may not matter.

    • First, am I wrong? I looked back over all his posts here and I didn't see anything positive other than Shough. Second, pretty sure if you had read the post I was responding to, you would have seen CRA made poo personal as well . You just choose to address me instead of him. Not sure why?????
    • I wanted XL but I felt he should have been a 2nd rounder but I understand the logic trading up just to get the option. A safety net for your gamble.    Certainly disappointed with his receivers development but i like his down field blocking and I imagine that's what's keeping him on the field.
    • Pretty sure it is a given Young lacks typical QB size and strength and he is here simply because his other attributes more than make up for it. My point is not to indicate anyone "settled" for him but rather to remind people that there have been plenty of big, strong QB's that have not lived up to expectations. Jamis Winston, Anthony Richardson, Trey Lance, JaMarcus Russel are a few examples. They all have the physical attributes coveted by teams and yet none have had sustained success in the NFL. And yes, there are QBs that do have both but there aren't many and some of the ones still playing were failures with their early teams. Saying Young is a bust simply based upon his size (and I do think it is as simple as that for a few guys around here) is unfair to both him and the team.
