We will be the team of the decade...

Feel good thread here (cue the "baaahumbugs").

And I'm sure there have been similar threads, but I hope everyone really takes a moment to think about where this team is and what they realistically can accomplish.

We have three hall of fame foundations in the most important places (QB, MLB, Head Coach).

Cam has shown that he is literally an MVP talent.

Luke, with much respect toward Watt, is actually the best defensive player in the league.

We have a coach that was given time to develop his style and culture, and the players love giving their best for him.

We have a GM that is best in class in talent evaluation (Mayo's development is yet another example of this) and is setting us up for long term success.

Now there is nothing new or groundbreaking here. The majority of us know the above to be true. But in light of the poor showing on Friday, I felt like this needed to be said again and focused on.

I'm proud to be a Panthers fan no matter the outcomes, but ten years from now, this will be the team everyone discusses when the word "dynasty" is thrown around. The team that took the torch from New England as the class of the league.

Don't order the crowns yet!

Really, the decade????

Right now we're sitting in the same position as the Cincinatti Bengals in the late 80s. And either you know how that turned out or they were so insignificant to the overall of football that it doesn't even make a blip on the radar.

Looking at how we've played in the pre-season, we look like we've still got the hangover from last year's raging kegger of a season. If we don't get it together soon, all we'll have is some photos of the frat boys celebrating and acting like asses. Go back and win a dozen or more games again this year or just drop back into the dustbin of history.

Really, if not, then seven or eight years from now Cam will be doing the Boomer Esiason thing on TV and we'll be talking about what we could have been.

Look, last year's ride was one of the greatest runs in NFL history and so much fun for us long-waiting fans. When we got to big stage, though, we laid an egg. Flat out just embarrassed ourselves before, during and after the game.

The list of teams that might be able to claim the decade includes Denver, Seattle, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, New Orleans and the Giants, plus the Patriots are heavy favorites to lay claim to this decade and the prior one.

If we want to knock some folks off that list ahead of us, we're going to have a mighty fine chance to start against Denver in a week and a half. From the looks of it, though, we've got our work cut out for us.

There's a chance.   But there's a lot of moving parts to make that all happen.

I'd say carolina has about a 10% chance to be the team of the decade.    so... this decade would have to happen ten times for carolina to be the team of the decade once..   (for those not familiar with percentages).

Out of all the teams in the league, I'd say the patriots have the biggest chance to finish this decade being recognized as the dynasty..   and even then their odds to me are around 15%.

Lots of moving parts year to year.

    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
