Good lord.

I'm talking about recent history.

We all know the Peppers story.  Since then the tarheels have produced 8 1st round draft picks, with 1 making a pro bowl.

Those are the players I'm speaking of.

So what? Plenty of them turned out to be good starters. There is not a school out there who's 1st rounders all turn out to be pro bowlers. That's one hell of a  high bar to set for a basketball school, don't you think?

Seriously? 15 pro bowlers out of 23 1st round picks is not good enough for you? I say it's not too bad for a " basketball school".

OK, and since I replied to him before I looked, it's a little different than that.

23 1st round players selected out of UNC......7 total players have made the Pro Bowl.

Well I don't know what round they were all drafted in but I can name 3 very good starters who were drafted since 2010 off the top of my head...Sylvester Williams, Robert Quinn, and Russel Bodine. Again, we're talking about a school known for basketball, not Alabama, who have had more than their share of 1st round busts, I might add.

Just so you're aware, this is the same argument Cowboys and Redskins fans make when I ask them what their teams have done recently.

That's all fine and dandy when we all had Myspace, but what have you done since Twitter blew up?

If an NFL team overdrafts a player, is it their fault or the school's fault? We're not even talking about UNC's win loss record here anyway. Also, If forgot all about Gio Bernard. He's another very good player from UNC who was drafted since 2010.

Jesus. The mods may have to start banning people who can't put aside college allegiances on a pro forum. The poo is getting old.  The college a player played for is irrelevant when it comes to Panthers football. Please STFU about it.

You're right, it is irrelevant. The UNC hate just won't stop though. And for the record, I don't even want Coples here.

I agree that the college talk stuff is usually initiated by the anti-UNC crowd but it takes two to argue.  The argument occurs in virtually every thread that the name of a former Heel is mentioned.  The argument has happened countless times and it plays out the exact same way every time with the same tired old arguments. If the anti-UNC crowd isn't going to stop bringing it up, it's up to the pro-UNC crowd to simply ignore it and not take the bait.

I'm not trying to act like I haven't been baited into the arguments in the past, but goddamn it's getting old. Take that poo to another forum. This one is about Panthers football.

I don't bash NC State, South Carolina, or Duke players, so why should I just take it when they bash UNC players?

Growing up in NC it's just what has been the norm since as long as I can remember being aware of sports. It's just the type of crap friends gave each other.

Yeah, I grew up in NC too. I give my friends grief over the games, but once the players get drafted it really doesn't matter anymore.

We are talking about last 15 years or so for a basketball school, here is the details for you:

1998 : 3 1st round picks (Greg Ellis, Brian Simmons, Vonnie Holliday)

1999: 1st and 1 2nd (Ebenezer Ekuban and Dre Bly)

2002: 2 1st round picks (Peppers and Ryan Sims)

2008: 1 1st round pick (Kentwan Balmer)

2009: 1 1st round (Hakeem Nicks)

2011: 1 1st round and 3 2nd round & 9 total that Draft 2nd highest school.

2012: 1 1st round pick ( Coples)

2013: 2 1st round picks (Sylvester and Gio)

2014: 1 1st round (Ebron)

UNC is 35th overall with 226 players drafted (USC 1st with 497)
