A WR is always gonna have flashier stats over a NT.

Star does his job well. He eats double teams and closes down running gaps like a boss. He tends to win his one-on-one match ups too. He's a human bulldozer.

yeah i know all that

well this is the last time i even vaguely agree with aceboogie about anything

That is false sir, but believe what you want

Find me a single source from anywhere to back up your notion that Jerry Richardson forced Gettleman to keep aanybody.

I can find you plenty of sources where Gettleman talks about how he didn't want to be a guy who comes in and cleans house.

Evidently the staff felt Sanchez wasn't ready physically.  He'll either be picked up on waivers or find a place on the PS.

As far as Gettleman's performance as GM, he's well above average, on the edge of elite.  Sure he inherited Cam, Luke and Ron.  He also inherited one of the worst cap situations in the league at the time.

He has:

Defined a team philosophy and has a long term plan

Signed and kept the core in place

kept the coaching staff and allowed them to develop

Drafted well based on solid scouting and team fit

been unafraid to make tough decisions

All while not only getting the cap in line, but managing to field a team that competes.

Gettleman is not perfect, but he's a damn good GM.  I think we saw a little uncertainty this year transitioning from managing cap hell to the new norm of a solid balance sheet but it's hard for me to understand how anyone can't see he has been the right guy for this job at the right time.

"Gettleman did not have any input on the decision to retain Rivera. In fact, the two men never met until last week."

Richardson made up his mind about Rivera before he started interviewing GMs.

Hope this helps.

I did a podcast last year in which I had us winning the division and you won't find anything that says otherwise

I'm sure. You're always such a beacon of positivity.

Just curious: What team will you go back to cheering for when Newton is gone?

So what if he's a mediocre GM (I don't believe he is)? Who cares? Why is the need to prove that he is such an important part of your agenda?

And I have no idea what you mean by saying he wouldn't have drafted Cam. That's just stupid.

My memory is razor sharp, if you go back on this board a few years you will find a discussion in which I started that Gettleman would not have drafted Cam. If you find that thread you'd might be surprised at the amount of people who agreed with me.

I think the Panther front office had a lot to do with our RB coach returning.  Not saying Rivera didn't green light it but...

I agree with that.  Hurney was a coaches GM.  Ron wanted Cam.

Dave is a different type GM. He views himself as the talent guy and he wouldn't of gone new age wildcard QB.  Given our team at the time we would gone DT
