Carolina Panthers run defense - 3 plays

Took a look at the Broncos top 3 rushes against the Panthers and what happened on run defense.

That hold was pretty noticeable. 

Davis way over ran that play though. Stopping the ZBS is all about discipline. The runner is literally pressing the line looking for a cutback. If Davis stays in his gap, the play goes no where.

I wouldn't expect too many plays like that from Davis throughout the year.

I hope that Lavar Edwards is a diamond in the rough because  both Delaire and Addison seem to be strictly pass rush specialist.

Both TD and Luke over ran the play.  Luke is normally right in his quick reaction but I think lack of film on Denver's new QB and new linemen was a factor.

I didn't see any poor play from Luke in any of the plays.

The first play both Luke and TD went too far.  #77 tried to block Luke but missed. Luke reached out is left arm but missed the runner by inches.

Luke didn't over run that at all. He maintained his gap control and almost made a great play avoiding the block and getting to the ball carrier. If TD stays in his gap, it's a short gain.

Disagree. Luke appears to be right where he is supposed to be should the play have continued to the left.

Yea, I can see your point.    TD definitely came way farther to his right than Luke so that he was almost behind him.

I noticed the penalty, not called, also.  I didn't catch the 2nd string against the Broncos first.  I didn't like the play calling and don't want to sound like a whining fan, but the officiating was the worst I've seen against the Panthers.  We've had some questionable calls over the last few years, but these were repeatedly.

I'm more concerned about teams lining up and running right at Delaire over and over..  He's horrible. Everyone else will be ok

Edwards needs to show what he has ASAP. Suit him up and put him out there with a emphasis to set the edge. They cannot afford a performance like they had from that position again.

At least they called it both way and let that one Facemask by Kalil go. We got a good play out of i....oh wait.

#2 was a missed tackle on Coleman and shooting the wrong gap by Shaq. #1 was too aggressive a play by Davis not maintaining lane discipline.
