Welcome aboard.

Mad someone who was raised to root for the Raiders and/or Niners and never had much passion about either team, I can sympathize with making a change.

Since the Warriors and Panthers have been successful the last few years I've had people that have never met me call me a bandwagoner. So don't let people get to you.

Sports is like love, the heart wants what it wants. So if you find yourself watching the Panthers and getting emotionally invested in the outcome, you are a fan.

There it is.

I grew up a Ram fan but when that bitch Frontiere took my team to St. Louis it was hasta la vista, baby. Panthers ever since. As far as the protests Kap or whoever. It's as simple as you're a highly paid, high profile employee of the 49ers and are representing them when you're on the field. Act like it, do your protesting on your own time.

The Carolina's are basically a transplant relocated region across the board.

We're finally seeing the home field advantage that comes with generations-old teams.

Glad to have the OP and whomever else decides to jump on the wagon. I'm so sick and tired of opposing fans having such a huge presence at our home games. I'm talking to you GB, Steelers, Pats, Buffalo and Redskins fans in the area.

2003? So you're regressing to being a bandwaggon bitch? ;)

LOL No, Just returning shots fired.

That was when I first moved to the area, and I was amazed at how crazy the entire city was in support of their team. It sucked me in, and they've been my #2 team ever since.

Funny story...The night before the Super Bowl, I went out to the Comedy Zone. Bobcat Goldwaith was in concert there. As he was opening, he congratulated the Panthers on going to the Super Bowl, and was talking about how he passed 'Ericsson Stadium' on his way in. Someone started heckling him, telling him that it was BOA Stadium. He looked confused, and the heckler said "Yep, $100,000,000 deal!" He said "$100,000,000 deal???? You'd think they'd change the f**king SIGN!!!!" lol

Duplicate post

Just FYI, become and All pro and you can delete that and it supports the cause.

Welcome aboard.

Oh, on a side note, I will occasionally pull for the Dolphins against certain teams. The only thing I had against Miami was Dan Marino's hair. Something about his hair used to piss me off.

Followed the Panthers in 2003 and 2016, hmmm... seems to be something in common with these years but I just can't put my finger on it

2003 was when I started following them, like I said in my initial post, and a couple others. It had more to do with the brotherhood of the city than the team itself. I went to my first Panthers game in 2005, at Atlanta. Went to a home game in 2006, one in 2009, and one in 2013. Its been a gradual process. I'm just glad I had a number 2 team to switch to, and already had time, emotion, and money invested in.

    • In my opinion Fitterer was probably right about not paying McCaffrey. Now not wanting to "pay RBs" in my opinion isn't something you want to set in stone, to me it all comes down to the individual.
    • Maybe I'm just not understanding, but everywhere that I have read says that signing bonuses go against the cap prorated by as much as five years. The following example uses Andrew Luck's rookie contract as an example. "Take Andrew Luck, the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. Luck signed a four-year contract with the Colts worth $22.1 million and included a $14.5 million signing bonus. Rather than a $14.5 million cap hit in 2012, the Colts spread out his signing bonus over the life of his contract. The hit against the cap would be $3.625 million per year over four years instead of a direct cap hit of $14.5 million directly in 2012. This gave the Colts more leverage and cap flexibility in signing other players." https://www.the33rdteam.com/nfl-signing-bonuses-explained/ I don't know why some of you think that signing bonuses aren't counted against the cap over the length of the contract, but whatever.   "The bonus with a signing is usually the most garish aspect of a rookie contract. Bonus is the immediate cash players receive when they ink a deal. It factors into the cap, but only for the whole contract duration, in terms of salary cap calculations. In the case of Bryce Young’s $24.6 million signing bonus, that’s prorated to approximately $6.15 million per season over a four-year deal. This format allows teams to handle the cap and provides rookies with some short-term fiscal stability, which is important given the high injury risk in this league." https://collegefootballnetwork.com/how-rookie-contracts-work-in-the-nfl/ I understand how signing bonuses can be a useful tool in order to manage the cap, and as one of the article suggests, signing bonuses may become important if you have a tight cap, but the bill is always going to come due. I'm not necessarily referring to you Tuka, but it seems to me that others simply don't want to understand that fact which is why they're reacting to what I'm saying negatively. How odd. In any event, I have a better general understanding of why signing bonuses are used now, and it's generally to fit salaries under the cap. Surely players, whether they be rookies or not, love a signing bonus because they get a good portion of their money up front. This in turn gives them more security and probably amounts to tax benefits as well. I also understand why teams would not want to use signing bonuses, particularly for players or draftees who have a higher probability of being gone before a contract even ends.
