You ever heard of the term "safe black"?? That's what most people view Russ as.

I'm almost positive that if you got Cam in a room and allowed him to just be him, his sentiments would be much different regarding police brutality and racial injustices. He may be all about peace and love but given what I know about him and his crew/family, Im positive it bothers him. No he doesn't use race a crutch and I commend him for that because I think a lot of people use the "I'm black, the man won't let me do better" too much. But as far as what's happening, I'm sure he has a stronger opinion on it.

Oh yeah, it's one of the reasons Russell annoys me :)

And I am absolutely sure if you got Cam alone he would speak more forcefully about the police; hell, get me in a room alone and I'll rant about bad cops all day (and I understand most cops are good people, but even us white redneck progeny have stories to tell.)

But if I am being looked to as a leader in my community I would speak from the heart in a way that I would hope would help, and I am sure Cam is doing the same.

I think Cam does want to bridge the gap, I just think if he didn't feel conflicted or felt like he was a in a lose lose situation, he would just voice his opinions on the matter because there's a way to do that and still want to bridge the gap with love, peace and unity. I'm sure that's what he's trying to do, but he has to be honest in his feelings first. I do not want him to come out and go NWA on us because he is a leader and he is supposed to be the voice of reason :-) I hate that he feels like he can't do enough to please anyone though. But like Ace Boogie said, heavy is the head that wears the crown.

Yeah, it's a tough place he's put in, hence why Rivera said he feels it's unfair that people look to athletes rather than elected representatives. We really do not hold our elected officials responsible enough as it is, it's sad that they seem to always be reacting to events around them and covering their own ass rather than taking leadership and rooting out problems in our communities before they explode.

This is a little off topic, but I think everyone is missing the big picture. We are all being manipulated by the media. It all comes down to views and clicks. What drives those views and clicks - drama, strife, controversy - not the good in people. Just think about it, you watch TV, listen to the radio, and visit websites like this one. Do you go there for the feel good stories, or do you there to get some sort of stimulation? What type of stimulation drives the most viewers? We are all puppets whether we see it or not. They produce stories that send us to them to bring in more advertising dollars. The media hasn't done anything to make the human race better, it's just pulled us apart because that's what makes them money.

How is this related to Cam. Cam is not much different. As outsiders, we can only really speculate on his true beliefs, but I can tell you Cam is smart enough to know that he will make more money long term riding the fence on the issue. You don't maximize revenue by alienating a segment of the population.

When you watch TV, listen to the radio, or visit a web site, take the information you receive and put a different prospective on it. Know that this information is being filtered in a way to maximize revenue for someone. Don't let your emotions take over common sense.

The problem with Cam is that he's not giving his true feelings hence his "too real" comment. I'd much rather him remain silent then just say some poo he thinks people want to hear.

Who does give their true feelings all the time. Only dumbasses, people with no filter, and children before they learn better. Most every intelligent person has a private side and a public side which is often very different. Obviously Cam has figured this out, haven't you?

    • Here’s a summary of the JJ and Luke podcast transcript. Opening / Bryce Young Fifth-Year Option     •    JJ: Breaking news — Panthers picked up Bryce Young’s fifth-year option at $25.9M, guaranteed, coming in 2027. Combined with his 2025 salary of ~$6M, that’s $31M over two years — called it a “no-brainer.”     •    Luke: Enthusiastic about the move. Highlighted Bryce’s improving TD/INT ratios (11/10 → 15/9 → 23/11) and the value of entering year three with Dave Canales. Noted $25M is a bargain relative to the $60M top of market. Luke’s Personal Update — Charlotte Christian Football     •    Luke: Working with Charlotte Christian school football program, which hired a new head coach. Coaches include Greg Olsen, Luke, and Greg’s dad Chris Olsen (a New Jersey State coaching Hall of Famer).     •    JJ: Jokingly quipped that Charlotte Christian’s coaching staff is “the world’s greatest” — a Fox analyst, a Hall of Famer, and the best Panthers RB ever — all coaching middle school football.     •    Luke: Praised Chris Olsen’s deep football knowledge spanning decades and his ability to connect with kids. Round 1, Pick 19 — Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia     •    JJ: Panthers were on the clock and submitted their pick almost immediately — a sign of confidence and preparation. Freeling is 6’7”, 320 lbs, played in the SEC in a pro-style system.     •    Luke: Loved the pick. Emphasized you can never have too many quality offensive linemen. Noted Freeling’s size, athleticism, and arm length as key traits. Said the pick also reflects team’s philosophy of drafting great people, not just great players.     •    JJ: Noted reporter Darren Gantt compared Freeling favorably to Jordan Gross — bigger, heavier, and faster — as a potential franchise left tackle.     •    Luke: Pointed out that young players like Freeling still have physical development ahead of them, comparing the trajectory to Christian McCaffrey’s growth from age 20 onward. Round 2, Pick 49 — Lee Hunter, DT, Texas Tech     •    JJ: Panthers traded up from 51 to 49 (pick swap with Minnesota) to grab Hunter. Played audio from Panthers area scout Kaden McLuhan, who scouted Hunter.     •    Scout Kaden McLuhan (audio): Said Hunter’s size is immediately striking, and that everyone around him spoke glowingly about his character, energy, and love for the game.     •    Luke: Praised Hunter as a massive (6’3”, 320 lbs, ~34” arms) two-gap nose tackle who fits perfectly in the Evero defense. Compared his prospect profile to Akiem Hicks. Said having Derek Brown, Bobby Brown, Derrick Brown, Terson Wharton, and now Hunter creates varied body types that stress offensive linemen.     •    JJ: Noted Hunter ranked third among all prospects in run-stuff rate and sixth in interior pass-rush win rate — addressing a perception that he couldn’t rush the passer. Rounds 3–7 Highlights     •    Luke: Highlighted WR Brazle (3rd round, 6’4”, 437 speed, 1,000+ yards at Tennessee) as the vertical threat the offense needed. Also praised OL Sam Heck (5th round) as a technically sound player whose “short arms” caused him to fall but who has proven himself.     •    Luke: Mentioned CB Will Lee (6’1”, 33” arms) fits the Panthers’ DB prototype — big, long corners.     •    Luke: Praised S/LB hybrid Zaki Wheatley (5th round, 6’3”) as a big nickel similar to Trayvon Merek.     •    Luke: Excited about the linebacker competition between Devin Lloyd, Trevvin Wallace, and Claudin Cherless.     •    JJ: Noted Panthers had the #1 “steal/overreach” rating in the entire draft — drafting players lower than consensus big boards projected. Around the League     •    Luke: Admitted being “a little jealous” that the Miami Dolphins drafted LB Jacob Rodriguez (Luke’s favorite LB in the draft). Has personal connections to Miami’s coaching staff (Jeff Hafley, DC Shawn Dugen — a childhood teammate).     •    Luke: Also noted Miami’s selection of OT/G Kaden Proctor out of Alabama, who will likely move to guard. League Trends — Bigger Tight Ends / 12 & 13 Personnel     •    JJ: Observed the NFL saw its highest run rate in ~11 years (~52%) and a notable pivot toward big blocking tight ends in this draft.     •    Luke: Explained the cyclical nature of NFL offense/defense evolution — as defenses get smaller to match spread offenses, teams counter with bigger personnel (12/13 formations), which then forces defenses to get bigger at the nickel/“big nickel” spot. Called it an ongoing arms race.
