The most frustrating part to me

The most frustrating part to me(other than sucking in general) is the officiating against us. It is bad enough making the dumb mistakes/missed opportunities, but we are not getting the calls. The announcers yesterday were speechless a couple of times trying to reason with a couple of the calls/no calls. What has our organization done to the league to get them to hate us? Something has happened..

We got like 3 calls that put us on the 1 yard line. Officiating was fine yesterday.

I think we got 2,  but how many missed were there? This has been happening all season. The Sherman/Julio Jones controversy is nothing like a couple that were missed on us.

I think of 3 examples right now. Cams head shots, Vincent jackson not out of bounds, right before the 2 minute warning yesterday the refs taking a ton of time to set the ball so we couldnt get a play off. Those are just 3. Those are game changers.

We got a roughing the passer that wasn't a roughing the passer

I don't see how ppl aren't talking about it, but the play when KB was crossing the middle and got laid out (it took him out of the game) should have been flagged for sure.

To be honest I was shocked we got the 2 Pass interference calls should have been 3,

The non offsetting penalty for the Saints got but we didn't in week 1 (And don't give me the crap about it's because our offsetting was Intentional Grounding, if the hit Cam took didn't effect the pass how did Cam make the pass to Dickson.)

Brees get a Roughing the Passer for a low hit, a short time later Cam gets hit the exact same way... Pick up the Flag on that one.

It's come to be expected every call that can be used against Carolina will be.

The shoddy officiating across the league has led to me watching less NFL football than ever before. I used to watch as much football as I could. Now I pretty much just watch the Panthers and the occasional marquee primetime matchup. The officiating is almost always horrific.

The officiating had absolutely nothing to do with our loss to the Saints. Our complete lack of a passing defense had everything to do with our loss to the Saints - and the Falcons for that matter.

It started in February... We had 10 penalties in weeks 2&3 or 3&4 but then they dropped considerably. We were 1 of the least penalized, perhaps more disciplined teams in the league. In February, we had 3 in teh 1st half & 9 in the 2nd...

This year, every time I've seen a flag, I know it's against us, somehow... Even when it's against the other team, I feel like a majority have been picked up, offset or something else more obscure. Maybe Cam did piss Hochuley off who could've conspired to conspire by raising a stink at the Ref's Union meeting in January....

who knows?

    • Tanking in the NFL isn’t really a thing and anybody wanting to bring the rigged lottery to the NFL has an ulterior motive.
    • I understand where you're coming from, but we need another safety IMHO. Other positions, especially on defense, dont have ideal depth, but to me at least S is the one position we can't stand pat at even when thinking about the future
    • 100%. Nick Scott was awful last year. Like, even for a franchise that hasn't historically invested in that position, it stood out for how awful it was. If he sees meaningful snaps at S again we're cooked.  Maybe he has value for ST, but I certainly hope we can upgrade. Jordan Fuller, who was by all accounts an Evero guy, was almost as bad. Xavier Woods was bad, but not complete garbage. Still did not want him back. Those 3 guys seriously may have been the worst S group in the NFL. And they all were brought in, especially Fuller, as good fits for this system. Everyone knocks the defensive line, and they deserve a lot of blame, too, but so, so many times our safeties inability to tackle let 4-5 yard runs turn into 10+. And it happened over and over and over again if you watch the film. Honestly, Demani Richardson was the only S by the end of the year I remember making positive plays. I have no issue with Richardson being in the mix and/or competing to be a starter, but we still need another S desperately IMHO who has actually played meaningful snaps in the NFL. The only caveat/excuse for our secondary was the fact our pass rush was nonexistent for large stretches last year. Maybe that helps with coverage, but I dont see how that makes any of these guys better at tackling.  I know it somewhat feels like piling on at this point, but I feel 100% confident in saying this was the worst tackling team in franchise history. The 70ish yard pass play we gave up to Jamarr Chase where he ran through and past everyone in the secondary has to be up there in terms of most embarrassing plays I've ever seen. I can't imagine how embarrassed Kuechly must have been watching from the booth... I think bringing back Evero was a mistake, but for a team that has had nothing but change over the past 5 years, I'm willing to see this through. I definitely think we added significantly to the floor of this defense with the additions we made. I dont think Evero has any further excuses if he cant field a unit that can at least somewhat hold their own. Fixing the safety play is going to be a big part of that.
