panthers workout 14 players

Several of the names are familiar to me, but none seem to be real quality players, as you would expect at this point.

But, i did find a few interesting...  graham is a wr, but had mostly been a kr/pr guy so far in the nfl, due to his tremendous speed.  Darrel young is a FB.  Made me think of how mich Ginn Tolbert have been struggling lately.  I guess something to keep an eye on as they could be falling out of favor.

The TE over DE stuff...  i have nothing lol.

Could you elaborate on what the "bigger purpose" angle?

Yes, I can.

There isn't one.

These workouts are just the same standard weekly workouts that happen every season regardless of whether we're winning or losing.  The guys who are worked out generally only have a chance at the practice squad at best.  Once in a while a guy might make the 53rd spot on the roster but even if he does he'll probably be inactive on game days. Or, as Zod mentioned, you might see these guys as next year's camp fodder.

Mind you, it's different if we have an open roster spot because someone got injured / cut / whatever and we work someone out, but even then it's more likely someone already on the practice squad will get the job before an outsider does.

That's why it's so silly to see people make a big deal out of these workouts.  Frankly, if you're getting all hyped up over the meaningless weekly tryouts or assigning some goofball conspiracy theory to who's brought in, then you probably need to either better your football knowledge or loosen your tinfoil hat.

But I want to get pie for being the 12th person to say dumpster diving!

Yeah we should be looking at the QB position. It really needs help. Not like we need DE help or anything. Oh I see now. We brought in 1 DE for a tryout along with 4 other TEs. How great.

You do know that they only bring in QBs so that they can workout with all those WRs and TEs right?

    • Lil Stanky 100% in the dot tonight... And our 2nd line has been our best offensive line this season. Maybe our 2C really was on the roster this whole time...?
    • That’s a grade I kind of expected tbh. I’m not a huge fan of NS, but he’s not as bad as what the huddle says he is minus the horrible game he had vs the Rams. I’ve always thought he’s often used as a scapegoat. The improved pass rush should hide his deficiencies a little bit better if he’s the game one starter. FS might have to be a position we punt on this year unless Thieneman falls to us at 19. The reality is, you're going to have a few average players in certain spots for a team with as many holes we had before free agency started. You can’t sign everyone.
    • I am by no means trying to say he's a world beater. I'm saying it's trending in the right direction. Especially when measured against himself.i think the team feel the same way or else they wouldn't have picked up his option. Plus I think there is a new idea in the NFL about these young QBs. Teams give up to soon. Browns gave up to soon on baker same with the jets on Geno and darnold. Maybe they are who you thought they were in the draft process and they need more time to develop than you originally planned. Either way. I do think he is as capable as darnold is as far as you can win a championship with him. And something he does have that darnold doesn't is he is clutch.  If I need one more drive and 2 mins to go I'm betting on Bryce and I am far from a homer, just going off his game winning drives. He has that dog in him on the last drive.
