Most of you started cheering for this team last season, and others of you have the memory of a goldfish. It's the biggest downsize of Zod's Echo Chamber Hug Box and Pop Up Ads Extravaganza: there's very little sense of context, and the opinion swings are manic. As high as this place was last year, it's that low right now, and in between there's very little opportunity to contextualize, or rationally analyze things..........

.......I'm not predicting the Panthers will be 6-5 when they go into Seattle a month from now. But the opportunity is there. This coach, this GM, and many of these players have pulled it off before.

First they have to get healthy. Then they have to get experience together.

Great post.

Health is the #1 priority for us.  We were so fortunate last year that the ugly injury bug didn't hit us too hard.

This year we have had our early issues.

If there is one team in this league that wants more than anything to put the Panthers in their 2016 grave and post the headstone.  It is Arizona.   We have pounded them two seasons in row and ended their Super Bowl dreams.  They want nothing more and to mark us for dead.  Stomping us will give them great happiness.

We come out and hold our ground, defend our dirt (as T. Davis) says we'll turn this season around.  Arizona beats us.  We're done.

The "getting old quick" thing is a really, really big deal.

Back a few weeks ago when I posted a thread in All Pro about different things I saw, that was one of them.  Some guys I listed as examples were Mike Tolbert, Charles Johnson, Ted Ginn and - reluctantly - Thomas Davis.  There may be others (probably are) but those are the most blatant,

A buddy of mine asked if maybe Remmers got old too. I don't think age is a factor, but I do think loss of confidence could be. Also don't really think Stewart's gotten old so much as it's just that he's been playing banged up pretty much ever since he got here (how many weeks have we seen him not practice but still play) and I think all those dents and dings are starting to add up.

Honestly one of the biggest things I see though (besides injuries) is still that we're getting outcoached on a pretty regular basis.  Rivera still goes into games with the mentality that as long as we do what we want to do, it doesn't matter who we're playing or what they do.  That's a mindset I've never bough into and still don't, but I doubt it's going away anytime soon.

It worked a lot last year, but bit us hard in the Super Bowl and has continued biting us ever since.

I am of the belief that TD is dealing with a hammy, or some type of leg problem. I think it was the 9er game where he had to leave the game. IMO, that is when he got dinged up. And has been playing at less that full speed since.

This was the first off-season for Stewy he didn't have surgery, or some type of rehab going on. He came out strong, and was looking good. Then he tweaked his hammy. Dude? Really? Foot and ankle problems for most of his career. Finally is healthy, then hurt his hammy? Jinx? Or just bad luck?

I'll give you CJ, and Tolbert, but I am not sure I would throw Teddy in with that group. I mean, Cam has under thrown him twice so far this year.

Now as for RR. That is one I just cannot wrap my brain around. I hear folks complain about certain aspects of his style, and there are times where they sound reasonable. But I also know that almost every coach has their flaws.

Here's what I do know, or, RR according to hubby. The players love him, do not ever discount that aspect. As a rule, when they see a problem, they address it. We are almost always a fundamentally sound, and disciplined team. Outside of STs, I think he has a whale of a staff. And we are winning. Well, maybe not so much this year, but there is still plenty of season left to turn this train around.

Ah hellz, I agree with most of what you said. And the ones I don't agree with, are not really that big of a deal. Until it comes to Rivera. Sure there are head scratchers. But almost every coach who has ever coached, has those on his resume'.

I don't think Davis is done, but I do think he and shaq need to switch roles.

Let Shaq be the full time starter, and bring in Davis in sub packages or as a blitzer.

IMO, we need to let TD come out after the bye. Because he is not losing a step, he is dinged up. Let him heal up, then let's see what we have.

Heck, even if I am right, that he is dinged up. He needs to start. Until he needs to be taken out, he needs to be on the field. He means to much to that D. He still can bring the pain. And until he actually needs to be replaced, he is our 2nd best LB.

Next year? That one is gon be a good battle. Especially if Shaq comes in with the mind set of taking TDs job. Classic can the vet hold off the kid battle.

    • Redeemed ourselves with a solid middle to end the night....
    • This is spot on, with the first 5 years of a QBs contract being so pivotal, as it should, unless you have Pat Mahomes or the reincarnation of Tom Brady, stats shows once the qb gets paid, the teams Super Bowl chances shrink significantly  what we did to get Bryce was idiotic to say the least, not because of the player(not a Bryce endorsement) but because there’s a long history of proof, making big swings at qb, are usually big misses  find the identify, build around that, and go from there. Unfortunately we don’t have one, and neither the defense nor offense side of the ball are more than good at best
    • Seems like a loaded EDGE class. though I think we don't spend a premium pick there with Scourton/Princely showing production and potential.  Concepcion at 19 is intriguing and seen ARSB comps with his shiftiness, high IQ and YAC ability. He and TMac would be a nasty 1-2 combo at stretching a defense. Brenan Thompson could be that day 2 speedy/slot guy that could boost his draft stock in Mobile.  Sam Hecht could be a later selection for C depending on how we are planning to attack that position in FA and our own previous guys. Shelton from PSU is an interesting developmental tackle that if he can get locked into an NFL strength program and rock up, could be good down the road. Speaking of PSU, Dani Dennis Sutton was a guy last year I was big on and was bummed he headed back to Happy Valley. I think he can be a helluva NFL player, and if he can show improvement in his pass rush moves, I wouldn't be mad at him in a trade-back situation.
