Donald and Barron hits. Clean or not clean?

In yesterday's game vs the Rams Cam took 2 shots to the head. 1 from Mark Barron a S/LB combo player and Aaron Donald. Arguably the best DT in the league. 

Review of Barron hit: Overall I thought it was dirty but not intentionally dirty. Barron isn't that kind of player and he was just playing hard. It seemed like he tried to Sack Cam with his shoulder into his chest and he incidentally hit helmet to helmet with Cam. Overall it definetly should have been called roughing the passer. But at the end of the day I guess it is the norm now right?

Review of Donald hit: I think that this one is tougher to decipher. Donald is a intense player but not a dirty player like Suh, or Burfict. But he has had a few roughing the passer calls in the past. It seemed like he jumped onto Cam in a clean way. Just so happened that his helmet hit Cam's when he Leapfrogged onto Cam's upper body. I think that it should have been called roughing the passer as well. Obviously not as clear cut as a missed call that Barron's hit was. But the rules state that you cannot hit a QB in the pocket late, low, or in the head. By rule Donald should've been flagged but a tough call to make live so I am not as mad about this hit.

The NFL seems to not care what Cam and the Panthers say. But the NFL is getting a lot of negative press for these kinds of events continually happening. Hopefully it comes back to bite them in the ass

The Donald hit looked clean. The Barron was as dirty as a Clinton.

Yea, that Barron hit was bad. Got him helmet to helmet by launching at Cam, and then finished the play with a forearm shot to the head. Both deserved flags, but I don't think Donald's was intentional.

to me it looked like barron came in with the shoulder and forearm and donald came helmet to helmet.

Both hits were penalties, and let's not forgot whoever drove their knee into Cam's face on purpose after Cam scrambled for a yards and was already down on the ground.

Cleaned Cam's clock.   Both looked clean to me, they were just vicious hits.  Any other QB would be dead from the Barron hit

Donald jumped up and came down and cracked Newton in the head with his helmet.

it isn't about intent or trying to play dirty...Donald's hit was illegal.  Helmet to helmet in the pocket is illegal.

How is a a defenders helmet hitting Cam's helmet clean? Hitting a QBs helmet with your mere hand draws QBs the call.

Barron intentionaly went high and contact with the head was clearly made. 

Doesnt matter if he shoulder lead the flight  to Cam head or not

I thought Barron threw a forearm to Cam's head, which is a penalty no? Donald was jumping to try and bat down a possible pass and involuntarily hit Cam in the head.

Could you imagine if candy ass Drew Brees got rocked by Barron like that? That would be 10 penalties and Brees is out for the season

Those were just football plays.  I just dont see the hit to the head on Barron's hit, maybe I need to see it in slow-mo.  Donald's was a little closer to to helmet to helmet hit, but it could have went either way in my eyes. 

 

Edit:  Just seen the other angle of the Barron hit.  Yep, flag should have thrown.
