Rebuilding Mode

Okay so let's say doomsday scenario this offseason, we see Ryan Kalil, Thomas Davis, Charles Johnson, and Michael Oher retire. Kawaan Short signs elsewhere in free agency, and Jonathan Stewart is a cap casualty. The Panthers, in particular the trenches, go into rebuilding mode.

Vernon Butler was drafted basically to replace Short. Shaq Thompson is waiting in the wings for Davis. A likely top 10 draft pick could be used to finally shore up the LT spot. Maybe the Panthers get a talented RB in the draft (I've been watching UTs D'Onta Foreman, who I think could be there in the 2nd). The Panthers will have a ton of cap space, but will Gettleman spend it?

Big changes are a given this offseason. The old Panthers from 2011-2012 are back, and the roster needs an overhaul. But there are some talented players waiting in the wings and pretty much everyone not named Cam or Luke with their job on the line next season.

Rebuilding mode, here we come...

I actually watched all games of Longhorns and I won't be mad if we take him in the second round.

No need for rebuild, just add pieces to an already good team.

CB: Dre Kirk, Hayden, Cooper

SS: STEWART, Church, Elam, Swearinger, McDonald

OT: Kalil

Draft a DE and RB: Fournette, Cook, or Chubb

Stewart?  I'm going to assume you're referring to Darian Stewart from Denver.  I doubt many Panther fans would want that POS here.  He plays insanely dirty and this is coming from a Gamecock fan.  With that being said, I'm quite familiar with Swearinger and he could be a good fit.  Plays really intense.

Stop wasting TD's time! Stop taking Cam, Luke, Olsen, etcetera for granted.

Treat players with proper respect. Get better at closing deals with high profile players instead of being hasty.

Stop ejecting Hurney guys for the heck of it. Let coaches have more say.

Fix obvious needs instead of trying to convince the public and media that you know more than they do.

Keep talented vets as standard bearers until the young guys are ready to take over.

Gettleman rebuilt the cornerback position after a 15-1 season. Two seasons later it'll many more positions. The entire roster outside of Cam and Luke will see changes. At some point they need a replacement for Olsen too. He probably won't retire this offseason, but it's coming sooner than later too. The future isn't as bright as many of us thought and that's heartbreaking after the success of last season.

You obviously don't understand the NFL . Remember when the Saints were supposed to be in the gutter . Yup they probably will get a wildcard spot. Remember when the Falcons were supposed to be in the gutter? Yup they will win the division . Remember when Tony Romo.... I could go on for ever. You don't ever totally rebuild a team in the NFL unless you are the Browns who consistently are rebuilding.  You add a piece here and there to allow you to compete.

So one of your biggest need is Safety. And, you don't want Darian Stewart? Lmfao I want that POS here

This team won't have a TRUE rebuild mode till Richardson hands the team off to someone else (one way or another).  I hate to say it.  When you keep hiring middle of the road coaches with no killer instinct you're going to have off years.  That's our story.

You nailed it with this one.

Showing he's a presence in the backfield. I wonder why we lost the SB? Bc he was a part of the reason why.

Never said he wasn't a good player.  He's just a dirty player.  We don't need him on this team who goes around trying to give a QB a concussion.  Screw him and besides, Denver is a dirty team who will do everything they can to keep their dirty players, he isn't going anywhere.  So really, this discussion is pointless.

    • Good write up OP..... I may be the outlier here but I like our WR sans XL. Metchie is sneaky good and just like Dowdle last year he WILL BE the biggest under the radar singing of this year FA moves. I am warming up to the idea of Sadiq at 19 over defense. I'm just ready for every BY excuse to be gone, he doesn't have this or that. No he just sucks and we need to move on. Honestly I've said it before but this team has been depleted of so much talent over the years we really could go BPA and be fine. In DM I trust..........for now
    • Like I said darnold is making people into morons.   For every 1 darnold there are 125 kenny Picketts
    • He's not Cam brother. Disrespectful to Cam at this point to keep mentioning them together. That's just my opinion. We all agree we need the young guys to step up. They have to varying degrees. But they're still learning. Especially the rookies. Guys like Miller and Moose need to take another step and we hope they will get there. Both need to add some bulk in the offseason. Kalk too. We can give them a little grace though. We extended the same courtesy to LaMelo in his earlier years. Many excuses were afforded to him. I agree completely that we need to see both offensive evolution and development under Lee. I feel like the team in some aspects has taken a step back at times under his watch. That can't continue. I hope it all comes together. We'll see. But that clock is ticking and there should be NO excuses after this upcoming season. No more embarrassment please.
