Why not roll Cam out of the pocket to throw?

Rolling a QB out from time to time has always been a way to counter QB pressure in the NFL

Why is this never used by the Panthers?

this is the same as when I ragged about why were we not throwing slant passes all season long till KC, I really dont understand sometimes what Shula is thinking.

I asked the same question while watching the Super Bowl last year. The fact is, rolling Cam to either side would require the Tackles to keep their blockers engaged. I am not so sure we wouldn't be rolling Cam right into a DE. It is the only logic I can think of. I'm sure our Offensive Coaches have thought of this right? They are getting paid I presume. <- Nevermind!

Keep their blockers engaged?  the tacles are the blockers.

Well I, above all, would LOVE to see Cam have competent-to-great OT's protecting the outside rush.

But I also don't see any need in "investing" for the sake of investing.  If you're not UPGRADING, "investing" is just a symbolic waste of money.

I've come to realization that although we need a new OC with a new system, we're not going to get it because Ron is the puppet master and that's why Shula is still the OC.

This x1000.

There's no need to fire Shula if you're not showing Ron the door at the same time.  Why?  Because what Shula does is exactly what Ron wants in an OC.  So even if we fired Shula, if we didn't fire Rivera, we'd just end up getting the same thing with a different name.

So, to the point of the question. In what I've found I can't see any mention of rolling out whether it be a bootleg or naked boot to be a response to pressure. I do see mention of it as a way to confuse dbs or as a technique for short qbs or qbs without a strong arm.

I don't think it's done to counter pressure.

Atlanta did it with Michael Vick. Questioned this since Cam and Shula's first day together. Never happened. Shula loves to run Cam straight in the middle on 2nd, 3rd and 4th downs tho.

Maybe because Vick is short
