You try to tell him he can't play.

I wouldn't.

Really?  *rolleyes*

If we start Luke we are even dumber of a team than I already think we are which is short bus level.  Let's put him out there and get another concussion or maybe an ACL injury.  Yeah, that will help us next year.  All the good players should be pulled and put the new guys in to let them get reps.  But I'm sure we will start everyone and get them all beat up and suffer major injuries for no reason.  Awesome plan.

This is stupid. Play him. If he's cleared by doctors, not Huddlers. I'm also sure Luke knows how serious this can be and wouldn't push himself.  I can't get with this train of thought for a lot of reasons. It's some guys who think the season is salvageable. Plus like Cam, Luke is just not gonna take that. If he can get on the field, he will. I don't like that loser "just sit him no point in playing him" mentality. If that's the case, pull your QB who had a concussion and sit him too. Matter of fact, sit all your starters since there's no point.

Someone name a team that has sat their starters, once eliminated from playoff contention, and it might be worth consideration.  I have a feeling nobody will be able to do that though.  Somehow our team will be the idiots for not sitting them, even though there's not any other team that sits theirs...

Everyone on the field is at risk of a concussion, sprain, tear, break, etc.  It's part of the game.  It's not the National Patty Cake League, or professional rock/paper/scissors...

There is absolutely no reason Luke should see the field in 2016.  Why risk it?  The team is is not going to make the playoffs.

The current methodology behind the concussion protocol is very flawed.  Just because an individual has stopped showing cognitive and physical deficits associated with concussion  does not mean they are at a reduced risk for secondary injury.

Showing off that PHD I see.. ;)

The early 2000's...what a great, fun time in music.

He was just on the field crying 3 weeks ago, due to a triggered reaction from a bad concussion. I don't think he's ready, but if the doctors say he's good, I guess he's good. Doctors also said Cam didn't suffer a concussion week 1, and I still don't believe that so *shrugs*

A middle linebacker is in or around nearly every defensive collision of the game. It's not about sitting him to tank the season, and I think it's very short sighted to compare his likelihood of getting re-injured to Cam. It's not Cam's job to take and give hits. Luke's primary purpose for being on the field is to initiate violent contact. Hopefully he'll be fine. I just wouldn't take that chance - even if the team was in a playoff hunt.

I wish we IRd him. Would be a shame if he suffered another concussion in one of these last four pointless games.

This^^^.  There is nothing going on in these last four games of the season worth risking Luke's long term health.  Give him these games and a solid off season to heal up and come back all the better for it next year.

    • At this point, I think Chubba is the odd man out. I hate that, but I think Dowdle gives us more production and big play ability.  But there is still a lot of football to play.  I think it depends on how much Dowdle will want too.
    • I’ve been anti-trade when it comes to Melo, but the way this season has started, it may be time.  I love his game and he’s a cool dude, but I’m starting to think, if he’s your best player, you’re never going to win anything of significance.  Too many brain farts, too many injuries, and ultimately for as fun and entertaining as he is to watch - his game is indeed a thing of beauty - it just doesn’t translate to wins.  And that’s IF he even plays.  I think it’s time to cash out and maximize the return.  I love Melo, but I think it’s pretty clear what the ceiling is for a team where he is the best player.
    • Every NFL team, college program, hell even HS has numerous "what ifs" that got derailed by injury. It's a brutal sport and half the battle is just getting lucky enough to stay healthy. Doesn't matter how durable you are and how well you take care of your body everyone is one weird hit or awkward twist away from a career derailing injury.
