Munnerlyn's quick success with the Panthers mirrors the impact he made as a freshman at South Carolina in 2006, when he excelled defending then-Gamecocks' star receiver Sidney Rice in practice.

"After my first practice, he gave me his number and started texting me," Munnerlyn said of Rice, who's now a starter for the Minnesota Vikings. "He was like, `I see something in you. You can be good. Stay humble and stay hungry.'"

Munnerlyn said he kept those text messages until his phone broke.

Once he came to Carolina, Smith gave him similar encouragement, which Munnerlyn embraced with almost childlike excitement.

"I was like, `This is Steve Smith! It's the NFL! This is like a dream come true!'" said Munnerlyn.

I remember that there were a whole bunch of people who said he was just "camp fodder."

Look at him now bitches.

I held out my opinon because I honestly didn't know anything about him. But I do now. I think he has preformed the best out of any of our CBs (Gamble included) during preseason and our 1st 2 games.

    • I'm hoping to at least go 1-16. That's how much confidence I have in the 2025 season, and even that seems unrealistic the more I think about it.
    • Stevie Wonder could see Dalton is done. Doesn't make either of the other two or Hooker much or really at all better. Just a matter of going with the younger option that still has room for some semblance of growth.
    • We don't have much to go on other than a handful of preseason plays and whatever's regurgitated from media folks. Mitchell caught a wide-open, WIDE-open TD pass, which was awesome, but Evans does the same thing in that instance. Either way, I've for the umpteenth consecutive year set the bar at hopefully a record as good as 1-16.
