It would be great if a former player or coach...anyone who knew anything about the game would start a blog. Nobody in this market seems to have a clue what they are reporting on.

It really is sad how poor the media coverage is here. From sports talk radio, to bloggers, to newspaper columnists, to radio play by play guys. It has to be at the bottom of the league.

What it boils down to is that even the "media" is Fairweather. He's throwing in the towel because it was a down year. Coverage all around was lousy this year because.....it's Charlotte.

Seems like there is only so many "the Panthers suck because" articles that can be written, no? But truthfully it starts with the viewers even more than the media. When the team sucks the readers aren't there - the traffic isn't there.

Not sure I agree with this. There are plenty of teams that suck and the media still thrives. Say you put out articles on how Rivera's teams have historically been bad coming out of halftime and byes, or articles questioning Rivera's lack of willingness to make changes to his staff, or anything negative, then I am positive the clicks would be there. That has been the problem with this media group historically. They refuse to be controversial or challenge the team at all.

You are absolutely right, there are only so many Panther suck articles you can write, but there are an endless amount of articles of why and how to fix these issues that they can write.

It was literally a link that contained 5 quotes with no insight whatsoever. There was another where he just posted a list of the upcoming Panther free agents with no analysis

But see it was this kind of stuff I actually really appreciated at BBR.  Primary source stuff without a lot of editorial comment.  Just a place to get the latest facts.

I really appreciated his players quotes, or transcripts of important interviews, especially as my internet is not always good enough to watch video content.

The lack of fluff is what made the site so good.  It was quick to load, uncluttered with a lot of junk.  A nice archive of stuff like stats, snap counts, inactives... a good primary source resource.

Yeah, tough year trying to make a living covering the Panthers.  After a 1-5 start it was hard to keep caring and keep clicking here or BBR.  I wanted to forget how bad things were...

Yes, this would be fun to have something like this as an added type of Panthers coverage.

Maybe someone can convince Smitty to start a blog or a column?!?!  He's already been voicing some opinions on Twitter.  Could be fun....!
