just imagine if Carolina and Duke would merge into one entity,and coexist  as one big happy family.alot would change but first and foremost would be  deciding on a new name,the North Duke Tardevils is one my personal favorites but i might be biased due to my roots ?...so, i personally like the idea of Cam Newton selecting a new name.he is a neutral party,and deserving.

so you might be asking yourself where did bandu come up with this really great idea.ok it all began the other day after i had read a short portion of this thread.afterward i felt bummed over the fact that Carolina and Duke loved one another as much as the Hatfields and McCoys.so, later that evening while  i was listening  to Stevie Wonders Ebony and Ivory and simultaneously playing my piano  out of nowhere i began singing or actually shouting at the top of my lungs, and flaring at my piano as if my fingertips were on fire and the white keys were a puddle of aloe and the black keys were vera.. "Duke and Carolina living in perfect harmony"...ole my freaking gosh how it rocks,trust and believe!

well needless to say i thought i would just  go ahead and share this slightly off topic but really great idea and super cool experience with all my fellow huddlers.

Blasphemy.    The DOOKIES can suck wind for all I care.  I would never want to see this happen. EVER!!!

As far as letting this thread die.   I get such a thrill out of seeing Kentucky and Duke fans puke in their mouth at the Thought of the Tarheels raising another banner.

i would like to at least see a charitable basketball exhibition game between a combination of... 

A)Carolina/Duke

B)Kentucky/Louisville

the game would definetly be one of epic proportions.and most importantly a cash cow for a good cause like the JimmyVFoundation for instance

Maryland president: Would expect shutdown of UNC over academic allegations

Maryland president Wallace Loh says he would expect North Carolina to get the "death penalty" over the academic allegations that have hung over the athletic program since 2010.

"As president, I sit over a number of dormant volcanoes," Loh said during a University of Maryland senate meeting Thursday, according to the Raleigh News & Observer. "One of them is an athletic scandal. It blows up, it blows up the university, its reputation, it blows up the president.

"For the things that happened in North Carolina, it's abysmal. I would think that this would lead to the implementation of the death penalty by the NCAA. But I'm not in charge of that."

A Maryland spokesperson later said in a statement that Loh's comments were "not a reflection of personal beliefs about the university or its leadership."

Joel Curran, vice chancellor of communications at North Carolina, said school officials were taken aback by Loh's statement.

"We were surprised that a sitting university president with no direct knowledge of our case would choose to offer such uninformed and highly speculative opinions," Curran wrote in an email.

The Tar Heels won a men's basketball national title this month amid the shadow of an NCAA investigation into the school's long-running academic fraud scandal involving athletes in numerous sports, tied to irregularities in an academic department from 1993 to 2011 and leading to five broad-based charges against the school that include lack of institutional control.

The NCAA began investigating the program in 2010, reopened its inquiry in summer 2014 and first charged North Carolina in a notice of allegations filed in May 2015. The NCAA revised the charges in a second version in April 2016 and changed them again in a third version filed in December.

The investigation is currently delayed while the school and the NCAA work on a new schedule for North Carolina to file its response to the third NOA, as the attorney for a woman at the center of the scandal said he is working to set up an interview after she had previously refused to speak with investigators.

North Carolina men's basketball coach Roy Williams said before the national title game that his program in particular did nothing wrong.

"Were there some mistakes made? You're darned right there were. Were there some things I wish hadn't happened? You're darned right. But there were no allegations against men's basketball," Williams said. "Do I believe again that our institution, there were some mistakes, you're darned right I do. I'm very mad, sad, ticked off, any way you want to put all that terminology about it, embarrassed and all those things too."

Williams' program is referenced along with the football team in the third NOA, though no coaches or program staffers are charged with misconduct.

Williams said the length of the investigation in some ways has been a punishment for his program.

It was only their second with a winning record, their sixth without a playoff trip and the sixth in which someone else paced them in win shares (Kon Knueppel this time around). While they'd surely like to keep building on their second-half momentum, maybe they're just unconvinced that Ball can lead a winning team. Maybe they credit that stretch run less to him and more to the addition of Knueppel, the ascension of Brandon Miller and some out-of-nowhere gains on the defensive end.   Charlotte should be dreaming big right now, and perhaps it believes a steadier hand at point guard is needed to realize that. Or maybe it feels it needs a little more time to bring everything together and thinks that task would be simpler without Ball's money on the books and with a top-10 pick in a loaded draft instead of two selections in the mid-teens.   Either way, this shakeup works. Short-term, a healthy Irving should be far easier to follow than Ball. You may not always know if Irving is playing, but you know what you'll get if he does: elite shotmaking, all-time handles, offensive ingenuity and the ability to work both on and off the ball. He could show this young roster what's required to win for a year or two (he has a $42.4 million player option for 2027-28) or even stick around longer if the partnership proves especially fruitful.   The Hornets also add a building block in Burries, who offers both plug-and-play polish and flashes of shot-creation that hint at star potential. In short, they could better their chances of winning both now and in the future while collecting both the best player in the trade and the highest draft pic

      I'd hire him in a heartbeat. Hell if he wanted the job, I'd have Canales packing his poo right now and I don't dislike Canales. It's just that firing a 106-58 coach is crazy work. That's a 65% winning percentage. That's the equivalent of averaging 11 wins a season. That's incomprehensible for a fanbase That's never experienced back to back winning seaons.
