Since we tendered Andrew Norwell, I have seen a lot of Huddlers undervalue Norwell and his importance to the team.

Just remember the days we had Chandler, Amini, & Wharton these guys stopped us from winning the 49rs playoff game with multiple goal-line situation where they got stonewalled and left 14 pts off the board.

When you identity is defense and running the ball 50% of the time your gonna need elite interior to win in the playoffs.

Either you pay for the interior or you pay franchise tackles which we don't have or value as much.

Offense: Andrew Norwell, 85.1

Norwell, who will become a restricted free agent this offseason, turned in yet another impressive outing. In addition to Saturday’s performance, the third-year hog molly has received praise throughout the season from PFF, ranking 11th amongst all NFL guards coming into Week 15.

He’s also joined by fellow guard and fellow soon-to-be free agent Trai Turner, the Panthers’ second-best offensive player on the day (81.2). Rounding out the top-five for Carolina was left tackle Mike Remmers (80.3), wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin (74.5) and running back Fozzy Whittaker (71.9)

Quarterback Cam Newton, despite solid grades by three of his linemen, chalked himself up a nasty 37.5 mark. The reigning MVP completed just 18-of-43 throws for 198 yards and one touchdown with a pair of interceptions. As noted by Jordan Plocher of PFF, Newton folded in 14 plays under pressure, notching a 0.0 NFL QB rating in such instances.

Norwell is a very good guard, and I want to keep him.  But if he thinks he's worth Trai money....well...every year there are tons of good OTs who become better OGs from college to pros....  This year is no exception.

He is and he should get paid like a top 10 Guard. We are building the OL similar to the Saints where the interior is more important.

$4-5 million a year? keep.

Otherwise, hope someone makes him an offer and we pick up a 2nd.

Unless your picking in 1st round its hard to get a elite guard.

Trai was projected to be 1st round we got lucky he came out early.

I'm not looking for every player to be pro bowl quality, but he's been a good and consistent start and you keep those, as long as he doesn't ask for crazy money I say we pay to keep him

Today's 5th round and beyond tackles end up being next year's starting guards.

Norwell was an undrafted guard, and according to some he's now like top 5 in the league, lol.

    • The motto means nothing if they lay down and submit to the opponent. One of the most embarrassing things I have seen from twenty years of being a fan.  Regardless if the lead seems to be insurmountable, you keep giving 110% untill the final second. Canales is definitely a Beta and it wasn't a good look at all. I wonder what the locker room was whispering about after that sh%t. I hope we never see this again and he actually grows a pair of balls. He needs to look in the mirror and understand that you just don't do that in the NFL. Maybe peewee football so kids don't get hurt. Throw the 3rd stringers in to run the play and finish the game wirh some some pride and don't bend the knee.
    • No but we should have kept both of them. People complaining about what he got paid can’t say much now because it’s absolutely worth it to get 15 sacks which we could desperately use, especially when you compare it to some of the free agents we have signed to try to replace that production (none of them have come close and we are wasting good money on them)
    • That period started rough but the canes stayed with it.  They will when this game 3-1 or 4-2 the way it’s going.
