Securing our guy

Would you all be open to moving up to either #5 overall to nab Fournette/Hooker? The odds of one of them being taken at 6 or 7 seem pretty high, and it wouldn't cost that much to do it. I have been hearing rumblings about it, but I am skeptical to believe Gman would ever trade up. If both guys are gone there, our options dwindle quite a bit, and you would be hard pressed to find another blue chip player at that spot.

maybe settle for Cook or Adams...too many choices ,too few slots, don't think its worth what we would give up...

If for some reason Garrett starts to fall I'm all for DG moving up for him. Even though Garrett is the consensus No.1. the Browns and the 49ers might look to secure a QB or WR with their picks! The Bears might look to add Hooker or Adams with their pick! Same with Titans, (WR/S)

If Garrett slides to the Jaguars pick DG could possibly trade up to their spot and grab Garrett. There are a lot of variables that need to happen for us to grab Garrett. But if the possibility arrives I hope DG makes the move. No. 8 plus both 3rds could move the needle, but is it enough. Does anyone know the site that shows pick value?

Sit tight, I'm betting at least two qbs go before our pick which will help

You really can't bank on this. Its already been said by guys in the league that the reason for all the QB jockeying last year was in preparation for this year's terrible QB class. So far teams haven't shown much interest, and the teams that were candidates like SF and Chi, are falling off the board.

You can fairly expect 1, but even that's starting to look like a stretch. The blue chippers in this class are too good for team to reach for QBs, and it looks like teams aren't biting.

does  any "insider" know how the team feels about Hooker anyways?

its been evident that wed take Adams because of his "physicality" and other rah rah crap that embodies us, but Hooker has been the forgotten man when he really shouldn't be.

I'd personally take D.Watson over any qb that has come out in the last few years. The problem isn't the qbs it's the bs evaluation before drafting and the lack of development after drafting. In a way, guys like Cam, Luck, Wilson ruined this league at that position. Now every quarterback is supposed to come in and ball out and put up big numbers. You should be able to draft a guy #1 overall at qb and sit him for a year or two. You're drafting #1 overall for a reason. These teams are trying to become contenders over night and it's why only a few teams can sustain success. Get your guy at qb and develop him while building up your team around him. Stop putting these guys out there to fail. I didn't watch the other qbs play, but I've watch every throw of Deshaun's college career, and he's a franchise qb who can win you a super bowl if you don't throw him out there on an island with no team around him and ruin him.

okay but how you feel about Watson doesn't really hold any relevance as to what the teams ahead of us will do

I'd be willing to bet he's going top 5. Even if not him one of the 3 will and that will create a domino effect. In the last ten years there was only one draft where a qb didn't go in the top 5. So you can pretty much bank on it

If Fournette, Hooker, Adams etc are all gone at 8 there are other guys like Peppers, McCaffrey, Taco, Howard etc who are all impact players for us. The idea that there are only 1 or 2 players worthy of our 8th pick and we need to lose draft picks to secure them is ridiculous. Our third rounders this year might land us a starter where many years may not land even a contributor.

well he's not going 1, 4, or 5 and it sure looks like he definitely isn't going 2 and unless you're really confident that Fox wants a new fangled rookie QB backing up uber expensive mike Glennon, then I don't know where you think he's going to go.

6 is really the only spot a QB can possibly go. Maybe SD builds to the future but unlikely.
