Draft Analyst Ethan Young: S Jamal Adams Not Worth Even A First Rounder?

It seems like the analyst is trying to analyze Adams in a box.  Like he has to be this thumping box safety when his major selling point for the draft (and to the Panthers for that matter) is his versatility and ability to play both spots and the defensive looks that can be disguised because of that.  I don't see it, but what do I know.

sorry OP, but usually a good analysis or criticism doesn't consist of just little more than calling the interest for the footbally player you don't want a "hype train" and then just copy/pasting a bunch of tweets from some guy who reaffirms your opinions.

let me guess, you're one of the guys on here that wants us to waste the 8th pick on a running back instead?

I originally wanted Adams. Thought he was actually good, but Ethan Young proves a point. He does have issues being the 'enforcing' type on a consistent basis, and re-watching his film shows that.

I'd hate to see us hit on a runningback in the 8th as well. Already made a thread on Fournette and an article proving how he's not a fit, and I don't see any other RB worth it at the 8.

I also looked up DE data, and - to my surprise - you'll barely find any big-name pass rushers after pick 20 except for a scarce few. I'm on the Thomas train at 8 right now, and I wouldn't be complaining.

I respect the hell out of Ethan for standing by a unpopular opinion. Same as Josh norris, they truly have their own opinion. In the the copycat, scared world of draft ranking it's rare to have your own nonbias opinion.

That said I disagree, Adams for sure is a first. Plenty of times he was a man amongst boys out on the field.

An alternative view is that he's just being contrarIan in order to get attention. Otherwise nobody knows or cares who he is.

True, I mean skip Bayless has made a career out being one. I don't know his angle.

    • Would absolutely love to have him. I dont think he would require more than a 5th rounder. The biggest thing with his contract is the amount of guaranteed money. As long as they can work out and scenario where the Panthers aren't on the hook for a lot of that, I think it's a no-brainer. The Panthers can come up with $20M at the drop of a hat with restructuring Moton's contract, so there definitely isn't an issue from a money perspective. Jaycee paired with Ramsey along with Mike Jack would give us one of the best CB groups in the league. The one caveat I see is that safety still remains our biggest current weakness. We need a starting caliber S more than CB, simply put. But adding someone like Ramsey would be amazing as long as the compensation made sense. Ramsey could also play for FS snaps also. I also dont understand this nonsense about being seasons away. We have a QB on a rookie deal who was playing at an elite level to end last season. Within reason, now is absolutely the time to make moves like trading for Ramsey.
    • He'd be a huge upgrade for this year, but we're still not going to be contenders with him and I'd rather keep the cap space to roll into next season to spend on a younger player who can be an impact starter for us for the next 3-5 years while we're hoping to contend.
    • Because playoff hockey and regular season hockey aren’t the same thing.  It’s a combination of the game intensity being dialed up with loose officiating.
