Scheme fit in the running game and his versatility would be wasted on Shula.

I was in this corner until recently, however we need to re-think our scheme, and I'm not sure that Shula has had a player with CmC's skill set.

It's BS that he can't run between the tackles, and it would be pretty easy for him to contribute immediately from the slot....something we are in dire need of.

I can definitely see the wasting part with Shula, but I actually think he would be a good fit for us- we haven't had a player of his caliber at the slot receiver or third down back ever imo

I'm not advocating we draft McCaffrey, but I don't think it would be a bad pick IF used correctly as you pointed out.

TO couldnt separate in his college career. Turned out to be one of best possession WRS in the game.

TO played college ball over twenty years ago at UT-Chattanooga. I think there's probably about twenty people who remember anything he did during that time. I'm certainly not one of them.

Don't think there's enough value in a good slot receiver, kick returner and 3rd down back to justify using the 8th overall pick when guys like Adams and Howard could still be on the board.

But we're no rethinking our scheme, we're planning to emphasize our power run game even more and drafting McCaffrey to hammer the ball between the tackles would be pretty silly. Not saying he can't do it, maybe he can - but we can get a guy in the 2nd or 3rd round of this draft that could run it between the tackles just as well (or better).

I agree totally on the Adams front....he's there, we take him.

On the OJ side....not so sure.  What TE's have come out and dominated as rookies, much less 2nd year players?

It's a myth that McC can't run between the tackles.  There is nothing out there that says he can't.

That said, Ron and DG have talked about the need...not desire to "evolve" our offense.  I hope that means less run on 1, run on 2, and pray Cam doesn't get killed or KB or Funch catching the ball on 3rd.....

It's pretty foolish to stick to our guns in 2017 on being a power running team.

Yea if Adams and Howard are on the board then I agree it would not be justified but I've been banging the drum for awhile that Garrett, Adams, Thomas, Fournette, Howard, Hooker, and Allen might all be gone by number 8

not highly likely but it's possible
