Cal QB Davis Webb Had A Private Workout With The Panthers

Saw an interview with him on NFLN the other day, seems like a very bright intelligent young man and a great character guy. Could be interesting as a future Cam backup to replace Anderson, but wouldn't even consider before 64 and still wouldn't be thrilled there. If he's there at our comp pick if we haven't traded it, I'd take him. Cam's had his injury problems recently and DA looked lost last year and is obviously up there in age. Wouldn't hurt to groom a young backup behind Cam. Could mean the end of DA here though. Unlikely we'd keep 3 QBs without one being a versatile guy like Joe Webb so if we took Davis, he'd be a lock and it'd have to be him, Joe and Cam.

I think we were hoping he fell in the draft and became a valuable backup similar to the situation that the Pats are in with Garrapollo. Look at some of these teams, Seattle TB Ravens Chargers. I think lots of teams might be drafting project QBs in the future to leverage additional higher picks for QB desperate teams. Also to be fair, Cam hasn't been a picture of great health the past few years.

Cam won't be suspended for cheating, so a backup here couldn't showcase his skills in any meaningful action.

Hahaha good point. Don't get me wrong, I am definitely not advocating for this before round 4 or 5. I feel like we can get some great players who can contribute on this team right away with our picks through round 3-4.

Hell no.. That's a luxury pick for a team with a old QB..

So god forbid Cam suffers a career ending injury! As a GM, are you doing a better job having a franchise caliber QB come off the bench or a true back up and then spend the next 3 years scrambling for a viable franchise QB?

So we draft him at 40? Worst case, 3 years go by and we trade Cam or Webb for 2 1st Rd picks! Or we could draft Devin Funchess 2.0

So we should draft a mlb, a DT and every other position just in case ppl have career ending injuries.. smh

You can't run a team being afraid of injuries to players who have been pretty much healthy their whole career..

If that player is BPA! Would breathe easier knowing we had a Luke 2.0 or just close backing him up
