excellent.

Not when we get Fournette, Thomas or Adams without trading up... But it will be true in 3 days when we take a QB in the 3rd...

My prediction is still that DG wants both LF and CMc. If LF falls, watch for Carolina to draft him at 8, and then move up using multiple picks and maybe a future pick to get McCaffrey too.

Imagine, thunder and lightning both in the same draft...immediately you have your RBs of the future, and the offense is evolved at the same time.

I see no way that Fournette, Adams and Thomas are there at 8. Jacksonville, NYJ, SF all like Fournette. SF like Thomas as well. Thomas falls to Titans and hes gone either with them or via trade.  Adams goes to the Chargers at best more likely before that.

95% sure the pick is going to be RB at 8 and I'm nearly 100% positive that Fournette isn't there at 8.

Sorry can't edit my post above (phone), but was going to say great, but Shady was taken 53 overall.  For a team that desperately needs a 20 year franchise DE for 5 years on a rookie deal, do we really think we can get a guy that broke Reggie White's sack record in Round 2 and at the expense of a possible Shady clone who himself was taken on day 2?

One will be there, you wait and see. There will be a QB run to some degree and guys like Lattimore, Allen, Hooker going ahead of us.

That's one thing I don't love about the idea of getting McC. He'll excel in shorter routes, or in a west coast offense. Not so much in a Coryell offense with Cam as QB who isn't even top half of the league in short throws. Give Cam a fast guy outside like Teddy or bigger targets like KB and Olsen and they'd fit much better with Cam than a player like McC. Clearly a talent as a runner too though, just not enough of one for it to justify picking him that early.

I agree with you except that I believe we need to incorporate more of a short passing game into our offense unless we can get Fournette. Then I say emphasize the hell out of the running game and play action passing.

We don't need Fournette to do the latter. He'd just fit it perfectly and could be a generational talent. There are other backs in this draft who could fit into a power run game built to utilize the play action and open up the intermediate and deep routes for Cam's big arm.

We definitely should be adding some more short passing game into our offense, but not as a foundation of our offense. It should come from the slot position which hopefully is filled by the addition of Shepard or by a draft pick, ideally not a top 10 pick in McC or even at 40 though. If we want our offense to incorporate the short passing game as a feature then Cam needs to improve quite a bit there.

You dont know that he can't run vertical routes. Our wide receiver coach who developed him said he knows and can run the whole route tree. Just like everyone assumes Fournette can't catch the ball because he didn't in college. Gettleman said based on the combine and workouts that Fournette has good hands. McCaffrey is a great back and receiver. Speculation has been that he would go as a first rounder as a wide receiver alone.

That Shady clone broke Barry Sanders all purpose yards record in 2015. I think he will be better than Shady. The last time I touted a player like this was Kuechly. We see how that turned out.

McCaffery has Odell like footwork. His 6.57 3-cone time is just silly. No doubt in my mind he can run any route. Now imagine if he starts focusing/practicing on become a legit slot receiver? That could be scary.

Having McCaffery on the field is going to open up things up for a guy like Olsen big time. I just don't see how people can be against this pick.
