Looks like Panthers aren't  playing around this year, DG has come to terms of letting players go that haven't  panned out.

Is Devin Funchess the next causality with the amount of quality  depth we have at WR.

Many Huddles are on KB weight issue he still has performed at high level and can actually play  "X" WR role unlike Funchess.

Panthers should cut Funchess and bring in 2nd TE incase of injuries to KB or Olsen

Nope, the real # 1 is Greg Olsen but if we are talkng about WR strictly then it will got too Curtis or Ross

Benjamin is just little bit overwieght but  he will perfectly fine for camp.

2015 season:

CAM:     3,837 yds   35 TDs

J-Stew:     989 yds     6 TDs

Olsen:     1104 yds     7 TDs

Ginn:        739 yds    10 TDs

Funch:      473 yds      5 TDs

Brown:      447 yds      4 TDs

KB (2014):  1,008 yds 9 TDs

2016 season:

CAM:     3,509 yds   35 TDs

J-Stew:     824 yds     9 TDs

Olsen:     1073 yds     3 TDs

Ginn:        752 yds      4 TDs

Funch:      371 yds      4TDs

Brown:      276 yds      1 TDs

KB:            941 yds      7 TDs

If something happens to KB I believe Fred Ross will win the #1 spot and Curtis Samuel will be #2.

Funches is good depth player but he hasn't lived up to his potential due to his limited skill set (even though DG claimed he could play all X,Y & Z.  )

Not surprised about the Boston release, but would be surprised about a Funchess release.  If he shows no improvement after the 2017 season, then yes, he will probably be gone.  Dude entered the draft too early to cut him already, at least IMO.

I think Funchess will be given the opportunity to prove himself, he was behind Philly Brown and Ted Ginn in snaps. If he does not perform in an increased role he will be gone. Tre Boston was given the opportunity to be the starter at S and he failed. Kony Ealy had a big SB pefromance and Jared Allen retired, Kony did not step up so he was traded. KB and Funchess are on notice but they should not be cut or traded this year

I don't understand all the Charles Johnson love.  While I can be optimistic, It's far from a guarantee dude makes the roster.  Not to mention if his production is even on par with Funchess, ones a UFA and the other is going into 4th year of rookie deal

Feel like I've said this 20 times, but Funchess is 22 years old and has played with a NFL-caliber QB for only 2 years after playing TE/WR on a Michigan team QB'd by Devin Gardner (now playing in Japan) and Denard Robinson (drafted as a RB).

Also feel like a lot of people are overrating our WR depth.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
