NFL = "Not for Long" Players remaining from 2015 SB roster...

It's no mere play on words that many joke that NFL = not for long.

With the cut of Tre Boston today, it got me wondering, just what % of players remains on the team from those players who were on the Panthers active roster when the team went to the Super Bowl during the 2015-16 season.

I'll post the table below.

But first I want y'all to be honest.  Would ANY ONE correctly have predicted who the lone remaining CB from our Super Bowl team would be two seasons later?!?!  Teddy "Special Teams Penalty Ace" Williams?!?!  Honestly?  I was a bit stunned to put it mildly.  As the joke goes, he and Bersin must have some kind of amazing photo collection....! smile.  I confess I wouldn't mind seeing our last holdout from the 2015 CBs cut from the team this offseason...

CB along with FB have had the most turnover....

We've lost 40% of the SB team already (quite balanced losses on offense & defense).  Another 5 cuts of players from our 2015 active squad and we will drop below 50%.

Corrected the table to fix the LB section...

quick note:  the table shows all players who were on the 53 man roster and active for at least one game at some point in the season, whether they started, or just played a few snaps.  There were 62 players who were active during the season.  A 63rd, emergency longsnapper Danny Aiken was on the roster for 1 week when JJ Jansen was ill prior to our Thanksgiving game against Dallas.  He's not counted in the table above since he was never active on game day.

Dang, did this too quickly.   I see I have an error, showing that 100% of our LBs remain.  Not true of course.  AJ Klein is gone.

I'll fix and repost.

I should have known I was too tired after a long day to try and create accurate tables!

UPDATE:  the table in the OP is now correct

Lol here she goes with the percentages again.... but seriously, I Love what you do, so keep up the good work.

That being said I'm feeling very confident about our roster heading into the 2017 season. Our front office addressed almost every issue we had at the end of last season.

Jesus how is teddy Williams in black

I know?!?!  My jaw hit the floor.  It's one thing to know in your head that you've turned over almost all your CBs.  But then to see that....!!!  LOL.  Just incredible.

I think this is the right approach. Last year there was not enough competition, especially on offense. We had the same cast except for Cotchery gone and the addition of KB. Have to continue to churn your roster with rookies or FA to motivate your core players. Seeing Tre Boston cut and Ealy traded let's the guys that are waiting for their 2nd contract know what's up.

DG is sending a message to al the underachieving players.

Heck, but we love it when it happens here.  (Oher, Harper, Coleman, Ginn...)  We've done well with some cast offs from other teams in recent years.  [Hoping the trend continues with Matt Kalil!]

I'll be pissed if Ealy starts shredding it up in NE. I agree with the trade but I hate how players that underachieve elsewhere suddenly turn into at least decent starters when the go to NE.

It goes both ways. Guys like Ginn and Mitchell did nothing elsewhere and we're solid here. If Ealy plays well it could be he needed to be traded in order to get motivated to finally play good ball outside of the Superbowl.

    • They were giving those PFF analytics a priority...
    • I think they have totally tied themselves to BY9. Good luck with that.  If Dan can get that defense really stout he may be able to survive an offensive overhaul.
    • I think a couple of these will turn out better than a quick first impression might indicate.  Specifically the GB guy. I mean, that team and organization is depleted of talent and kind of headed towards the bottom. But I think the dud has some skills.  Head coach in college, with NFL cred too. Tough situation he is taking on.    And I hate to say, Atlanta.  Stefanski might be unleashed lol. Still has a QB deficit though. He’ll get a ton of owner support I think. Blank badly wants Matt Ryan to succeed.    I was cold on Tennessee but they are requiring Saleh to hire an experienced OC and they have some pieces on defense. It might be a little better than I expected at first. Won’t be great anytime soon though.     Harbaugh is proven and a lot of the NFC East is pretty shaky.    I think Baltimore could have fuged up. They apparently are allowing their QB to rule the roost and that ia really a suspect strategy.  OTOH that QB is very potent on the field and could make a mediocre coach look decent.     I am close to there on Buffalo, as far as did they fug up. I am not real optimistic for them, but could be totally wrong.    Pittsburg is the most interesting because of their incredible hiring success. One of these times it ain’t gonna work out so smooth for them. I mean they are kind of due. Will it be this time?     Arizona? Graveyard.  Las Vegas? Probably the same thing. But they might resurrect NE mojo in the desert. I guess it could happen.
