I always thought he was kind of the Pete Townsend of the Seattle sound. There was just something a bit more to his lyrics and musical arrangements. Definitely a gifted performer and a hard worker.

One of the early pioneers of grunge.  I was a huge fan back in the day...listening to Soundgarden, AIC, Nirvana.

Chris Cornell was my favorite vocalist from the grunge era, and probably all of rock music. I'm really thankful I was able to see him live earlier this year. 

The police report mentions something about a band around his neck and possible hanging. It makes me wonder if he was into the same stuff that killed David Carradine. His wife is adamant that he wasn't suicidal, yet she sent someone to his hotel room to check on him. Strange. Such a huge loss for music in general.

Sitting out by the pool "working" on a beautiful Carolina Friday morning and listening to Hunger Strike, Say Hello to Heaven, and some Black Hole Sun. Good stuff.

If you guys really want to hear Cornell at his finest, look into the bootleg acoustic "Unplugged in Sweden".   It's where he did the Billie Jean cover and other stuff but also acoustic songs across all his projects.    There's a download as well, it's perfect soundboard quality that I'm surprised wasn't released officially.   There's probably youtube videos of the audio as well.   It's my favorite acoustic recording (Alice in Chains unplugged is also amazing).

Also his first solo album, Euphoria Morning is amazing too.    He had so many great songs across all his bands/solo.
