Panthers-related: Rival Bucs sign the Fitz

I like the dig, but no, he's not even close. Fitz is good experience, i.e. he can give you that vet starter versus the crap that Oakland had to throw out there once Carr went down, but he sucked last year. He has the potential to play well enough, which is what you want from your backup.

It was sarcasm.

Jameis is mediocre though.

Everyone needs to just quit with the Squidworth crap. NFL teams see him as a distraction and if you're seen as a distraction you better be a star caliber player, not a guy seen as a backup QB who will hopefully never see the field. The PC angle is garbage. If teams thought the guy could help them win games and this help protect GM and coaching jobs, he'd be on an NFL roster. Period.

Oh I am. And I don't blame the NFL for approaching it that way.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Personally, I despise Kaep's politics. But I'm sure there are plenty of NFL players whose politics would disgust me. The difference is that Kaep made a damn fool of himself and proceeded to do absolutely nothing to help the cause he stood, literally, for until he was called out by fugging Stephen A Smith for his inaction. He made his own self into a pariah and that's fine whatever. Mike Vick did too. But guess what... Mike Vick was valuable enough to earn a roster spot the very next season after he was released from prison because he was no longer a distraction.

Give Kaep a season or two off, and if he keeps himself in football shape I bet he'll earn a roster spot in 2019 or 2020

    • There probably isn’t an orthopedic surgery that has had more improvement in technique and outcomes over the last two decades than the acl repair. Because of its importance in pro sports and the sheer number that surgeons do there have been lots of opportunities to practice 1. Better techniques - arthroscopic v open surgery means people heal faster  2. More training - all sports med surgeons have tons of experience doing them 3. better imaging - later generations of mri are more sensitive  4. better therapy - PTs have gotten better at rehabbing them and the theories of rehab have improved a lot. No idea about brooks in particular tho, but I’d describe that overall situation as “not great”
    • If Freeling or either of the Utah OTs dropped to 19 I'd be more than happy honestly. Our OT situation isn't great with an aging Moton at RT and a mess of a situation at LT if Walker goes down at any point in time.  What I'm expecting the Panthers to do is probably draft another weapon like Sadiq or KC Conception. That's been their track record in drafting R1 thus far. None of the defensive talent projected to be around 19 stands out to me. Unless they just want to draft a LB early (Rodriguez,  CJ Allen, Anthony Hill, Jake Gollday).
