Panthers-related: Rival Bucs sign the Fitz

I like the dig, but no, he's not even close. Fitz is good experience, i.e. he can give you that vet starter versus the crap that Oakland had to throw out there once Carr went down, but he sucked last year. He has the potential to play well enough, which is what you want from your backup.

It was sarcasm.

Jameis is mediocre though.

Everyone needs to just quit with the Squidworth crap. NFL teams see him as a distraction and if you're seen as a distraction you better be a star caliber player, not a guy seen as a backup QB who will hopefully never see the field. The PC angle is garbage. If teams thought the guy could help them win games and this help protect GM and coaching jobs, he'd be on an NFL roster. Period.

Oh I am. And I don't blame the NFL for approaching it that way.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Personally, I despise Kaep's politics. But I'm sure there are plenty of NFL players whose politics would disgust me. The difference is that Kaep made a damn fool of himself and proceeded to do absolutely nothing to help the cause he stood, literally, for until he was called out by fugging Stephen A Smith for his inaction. He made his own self into a pariah and that's fine whatever. Mike Vick did too. But guess what... Mike Vick was valuable enough to earn a roster spot the very next season after he was released from prison because he was no longer a distraction.

Give Kaep a season or two off, and if he keeps himself in football shape I bet he'll earn a roster spot in 2019 or 2020

    • I hope Stefanksi flames out in ATL but Baker hasn't changed one bit. Busy trying to settle scores through the media instead of focusing on his craft and not returning to the form that got him jettisoned from Cleveland in the first place. I love that the Bucs are getting to see the real him.
    • Or how about Kirk who had an incredible 250 yards receiving this year.  XL finished season with more yards than Kirk.
    • I think it’s pretty clear he is. He cut off beane when he was going to answer the question about Keon to blame McDermott and the coaching staff for picking him. And then said one of the reasons he fired McDermott was after seeing Josh Allen crying in the locker room after the game. Everyone talks about Buffalo being an attractive job because of Allen, but I’d have to reconsider after hearing the owner pretty much telling you that’s he acting quickly on emotions and is giving all credit for success to the GM instead of the coach who helped guide them to the playoffs for the first time in 17 years (with Tyrod Taylor at QB) and 7 out of the next 8 years. Just a really bad look all around.
