Why are there so many Clemson fans where did they come from

Ummm, a lot of fans of all 3 of those teams would take exception to your blanket statements. It's akin to saying saying all women are bad drivers- a sweeping generalization. I seriously doubt there's even a poll anywhere to cover the majority claims. Fine with me if you choose to buy those numbers, but not fine to push 'em as if they're facts. Hell, I think a good number of people who respond to polls are lying anyway, depending on their mood of the moment or whether they want to admit their true feelings or not.

I think a lot of college FB fans put college loyalties ahead of their NFL faves. Some college fans will even switch or add another school to their cheer list due to high school allegiances. We can only guess at the numbers.

Every South Carolina fan I've met does not care about the Panthers.  Have met a few Clemson fans that like the Panthers.  So, sure.  But, whatever.  I would never put OU before my NFL team.  Never.

I can say for a fact that isn't the case. As I stated, I live here in SC and I've seen plenty of people who are fans of the Gamecocks that are also Panther fans, the same applies to Clemson fans. Hell I've seen people wearing a Cam jersey while wearing a Gamecock hat. Now I won't claim that they don't prefer college games over the NFL however I've seen some of these same people shouting and cheering at the top of their lungs when it comes time for Panther football.

What part of SC you live in?  In Charleston, the majority of Gamecocks fans hate Cam Newton.

I'm in the northern parts of SC, not too far from the line but I've been around the state. I will admit the further South you go in SC is where you start to get into the counties that are Steeler or Cowboy fans in the NFL so they are likely the cause of the hate. Heck the few Cowboy fans around my area actually talk pretty well about Cam and generally say that if they wasn't stuck to their old loyalties they would go for the Panthers. I just know that the majority of the counties here in SC are Panther fans overall.

I hope you're right.  I've been out in Charleston numerous times, and a lot of Gamecocks fans hate Cam Newton there.

still think it's weird how many Clemson fans showed up tonight wearing their obnoxious orange just to root for one player.  I've literally never seen that ever happen before.

They've been all out in force at training camp too, rooting for Boulware, so it's not just about Deshaun Watson

Few runners are actually identical.

Watson is no Kirk Cousins.  Watson is a legit dual threat.

and of course Watson doesn't have a rocket like Cam.  Maybe 2 QBs can hang in arm strength. He has a better short game/touch though.

Watson landed in a perfect spot for success.

Watson is not a dual threat in the NFL and he has a better short game because he doesn't have touch on the long balls. He's kirk cousins more than any other QB in this league.

Not all dual threats run the same.  You don't have to bulldoze people like Cam or be Vick...to be a dual threat.

What happened with Watson in the red zone vs us?  Pretty sure he ran one in pretty easily from 10 out.

Steve Young was a dual threat.  Watson is too. I don't know what box you think a player has to be  considered a dual threat.

Yea I forgot he juked Davis and Luke to get to the end zone. Oh wait he did. He ran it on on the practice squad. I guess he is a practice squad dual threat.

you sound like a Gamecock find blindly hating.  I mean to say he isn't a dual threat player just doesn't make sense to me.

Once Watson isn't a dual threat....then you can claim it. Nothing suggests he won't be yet.

what is your line on dual threats? Was Steve Young one? Pretty sure he didn't snap angles and have Vick speed nor could plow through a defensive front like Cam

I mean this is borderline like cult poo guys.  It's one thing to root for a guy that's local.  Like Brandon Ingram playing for the Lakers, or Clowney or Lamm on the Texans, etc.  But the stadium was full of orange tonight of people rooting for a guy (Watson) that they've probably never said a word to.  And since when do people get jerseys of a college kid with the kid's name on the back of it??? How is that legal where do they get these jerseys?  Clemson football fans are fuging weird man they are a big school it's like Watson is the first NFL player they have ever had

That bandwagon is getting pretty full!!!!!!

    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
    • I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
