What pass defenses do we need to be worried about?

Just looking at our schedule and while i'm of the belief that our pass blocking and passing game overall will be improved, i think we've still got a few challenges.

as far as pass rushes, we're going up against 4 teams that were top 10 in sacks last year... vikings, packers, bills, and bucs.

i looked at QB ratings against and only the vikings were in the top 10, but eagles and bills were 11 and 12 there.

in comp% bills, eagles, and vikings were in the top 10, but pats and 49ers were also 11 and 12 there.

overall i guess beyond maybe the vikings, bills, and eagles i don't think there's a whole lot that we need to worry about.

am i wrong? I mean i probably am, but who am i missing?

Vikings defense is a challenge, but their offense is a lost hope.

Green Bay's defense is the suck. They lost a lot of good players (including Peppers) in free agency. Don't expect them to be dominant again.

Buccaneers d-line is always going to be something with McCoy and Spence, but they really haven't improved at all this past off-season at that sector.

Bills. McDermott's leading that. It'll be a new scheme and likely better, but still don't think it'll be that much of a challenge.

I did a SoS thread a while back looking at a certain chart that takes into account a lot of variables. This article is also good to read too:

The Panthers offense has a super easy schedule. It's not even funny.

  • Passing -  The Panthers go against the 24th hardest schedule against pass rush defenses (17th in 2016), 30th hardest in pass defense efficiency (6th in 2016), and 32nd hardest in yards per pass allowed (21st in 2016).
  • Rushing - The Panthers go against the 32nd hardest schedule against run defenses (28th in 2016) and 29th hardest in RB pass efficiency (25th in 2016).
  • Red Zone Efficiency - The Panthers go against the 31st hardest red zone defenses (29th in 2016), and 20th hardest against 3rd down conversion prevention defenses (19th in 2016).

The Panthers offense has the easiest schedule in the NFL, and it's not even close. That should bode really well for our new offensive scheme and future. Cam Newton should be pressured less, and our wide receivers will have much easier competition in comparison to last year. Our rookies should also shine against the easier competition.

Expect a lot of points to be scored.

Defensively, it's a lot tougher in comparison to our offense, but not significantly different from last year.

  • Passing - The Panthers go against the 2nd hardest schedule against pass efficient offenses (7th in 2016), 2nd hardest in Yards Per Pass Attempt (3rd in 2016), but do get to go against slightly easierpass protecting offenses (6th hardest in 2017; 4th in 2016).
  • Rushing - The Panthers go against the 1st hardest schedule against rushing efficient offenses (21st in 2016), 1st hardest against RB pass efficient offenses (1st in 2016), but remain at 32nd hardestgoing against explosive rushing offenses (same as 2016).
  • Red Zone Efficiency -  The Panthers defense go against the 1st hardest schedule against red-zone offenses (3rd in 2016), and the 2nd hardest against 3rd down converting offenses (5th in 2016).

Pass Blend combines pass efficiency, yards per pass attempt, explosive passes, and pass rush efficiency. As you can see in the visual above, the Panthers have the easiest “Pass D Blend of Opponents” by a wide margin.

^Yep.  I'll never underestimate the Vikings D again after they whipped us in the 2nd half last year.  But they were also lucky to not be blown out at halftime after an awful week of chaos in Charlotte.  They also faded big time down the stretch and yes, their offense is a joke.

Worry about whichever one we're facing that week. There's a reason why there's only been 4 winless teams in NFL history. Every team consists of professional players assembled by professional front offices and coached by professional coaches. As soon as you overlook one, they're gonna catch you napping.

The Vikings and it's not even close.

They took Denver's blue print of blitzing to keep RB's and Olsen in to block  and added a bunch of double A gap blitzes.

Please note: people did that to us all year, because we had:

1. No WR that could beat press consistently. So people were able to blitz with single high safety a lot.

2. Did not get rid of the ball quickly.  Blame Shula all you want, but if it wasn't a screen Cam rarely looked underneath first no matter what coverage.

3. Both of our tackles got absolutely demolished by speed rushers (including Oher before injury).

4. Our line calling went down dramatically with Kalil out, and it wasn't breathtaking before he went out either.

I think we can discuss it. We aren't playing or coaching

I mean, we can discuss it but we're basically trying to predict the future. Some of these defenses we'd likely overlook right now will end up being a lit better than expected and some of theae good defenses may underperform or have a key injury or two that really changes them.

I guess I just dont see the point, but discuss away.

All of them.

Wonder Woman cannot handle the quick-release short game our new look will demand; defenses will feast.

I've grown weary of your wonder woman crap along with all your other constant lame attempts at nick names for players you don't like. Your schtick got old a while back and it's bordering on spamming. I don't like spamming. You won't like being considered a spammer. Knock it off.
