Better rookie season for Christian McCaffrey or Leonard Fournette?

Since you mentioned he looks like he did at Standford, let's go with the All Purpose Yards in single season. Not saying he will do it this year, but if they ever use him like they did at Stanford then he has a good shot.

So this is the record. If he does not break this he is not worth the hype ya'll are giving him. Fair enough?

I keep hearing and seeing everywhere from non-panther fans that McCaffrey is so small and he can't be run in between the tackles too many times , these people are acting like he's 5'7'' 160 lbs or something. I know I've made a simular post before, but these people are completely ignoring the fact that there's been a number of great RBs that are pretty damn close to McCaffrey's size, weight, or both at this point in their careers .

This is a fair rebuttal. But until hes shown he can there is no question that people will say he won't be able to do it. I'm gonna feel much better about this once hes successful doing it in regular season games. CMC is a highlight reel player but it can be blown out of proportion. We all want to know how he will be used and how often and the fact is we just don't know. The unwary or over-optimistic can easily get caught up in making a best case or worse case projection and that's fun but i wonder how realistic it is .

Every fanbase and forum in the NFL is doing this. Its a conspicuous effort to get people hyped for the season and thats cool . But some of it is crazy. NFL.com had a headline of electrifying Saints when they had scored 10 points albeit with a nice Kamara run. For a couple of days they were talking about the Browns like an irresistible force. Every time they play a preseason game these daft headlines can be seen soon after. I'm just gonna take his play as a good sign and hope rather than expect great things for now.

its mainly people are just excited about football again since we havent had it for half a year.

I understand that though, we have yet to see how he or any other rookie will do in the regular season, and yeah we don't know exactly how many snaps he'll get or how many times he touches the ball .

But I don't think you should just completely ignore what happens int the pre season either. If nothing else we've learned McCaffrey is much faster than Stewart and that he can out run some 1st and 2nd string caliber defensive players.

I think it would be kind of impossible for anyone calling themselves a panther fan to ignore his preseason or be unexcited about it. I was lurking the saints board and they have a thread about him so other teams have noticed  too.

You can't be serious Reggie Bush was WAY more talented than CMC. Quicker, Faster (damn near fastest player in NFL). Vision and did kick returns and punts, If Reggie had as many carries as CMC he would have had 3k yards. Stop with the madness bro

Lmao. You really are stupid.

You are a CMC homer. We cant take anything you say seriously because of your man crush. Starting to think you are probably bi-sexual. You sound like a domesticated dog when you defend him.

Reggie Bush YPG was 3.6 3.7 and 3.8 in his first 3 years in NO. His vision was not good despite sharing carries and avoiding the harder runs with Pierre and Deuce McAllister. People's love for highlights cloud there ability to judge rbs.

Right so if CMC does not out produce Reggie Bush then ya'll need to chill.

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
